Kick off your Friday and start your weekend right with Jimmy Kimmel knocking celebrities off their pedestals 140 characters at a time.
In the fourth edition of his popular “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets” series, the late night host makes stars like Jessica Simpson and Jessica Alba read meanspirited tweets about themselves and it’s hilarious because #schadenfreude.
Besides the deadpan delivery and R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” somberly playing in the background, it shows audiences that hey, celebrities are semi-aware of what’s being said about them on the modern age’s never-ending printing press of tabloids called Twitter.
It’s all nice and swell that these two were such good sports about it, giving their haters a retweet on steroids by reading insults about them on network television.
For instance, Jessica Alba on her flavorless IMDb page post-Sin City: “I just saw @jessicaalba. If this were 2007 I’d be really excited.”
Or Jessica Simpson on her 29-month-long pregnancy: “I already know that when I get pregnant I’m going to pull a @JessicaSimpson and gain 598 pounds”
Wow, anonymous Twitter users. Way harsh, Tai.
