Jessica Simpson’s belly is looking more and more pregnant-y each day, but the singer-turned-designer still hasn’t made an official announcement. Word is that she’s waiting for the right half a million-dollar offer to come along. Why tell everyone something for free when you can get $500,000 out of it? But by the time Jessica tells the world, “I’m pregnant!” we’re all going to be like, “Yeah, we know.”
But, really, who knows—maybe it is just extra weight. Although it is weird that it’s only her stomach that’s getting large, while the rest of her body remains intact.
Okay, I’m sorry. It’s totally not extra weight. That’s a pregnant woman right there. But whatever her reasons are for keeping it a secret, Jessica is certainly not the first celeb to keep her pregnancy hidden. Here are a few others who kept mum on their baby bumps.
Angelina Jolie: Rumors surrounding Angelina Jolie’s pregnancy started in 2008, and the actress fueled them when she wore a billowy dress to the SAG awards. Finally, while promoting Kung Fu Panda with Jack Black, he outed the actress, revealing that she was pregnant with twins. With her rail-thin figure, she couldn’t have hidden it for long anyway.
Mariah Carey: After all the graphic photos of her stomach, it’s hard to remember Mariah ever trying to hide that big baby bump. Well, that thing was less of a “bump” and more of a mountain. But anyway, actress Thandie Newton was the one who let the cat out of the bag. During an appearance on The View, Newton said she got her role in For Colored Girls because of Mariah’s pregnancy. Oops.
Jennifer Lopez: In 2007, when rumors were running rampant about J.Lo’s pregnancy, her ex , Cris Judd, confirmed to the media that she was indeed expecting. How did he know this information? It’s bad enough you can’t announce your own pregnancy—but to have your ex spills the beans? Aw hell naw.
Pink: Pink finally had to admit she was pregnant, after Good Day L.A. host Jillian Barberie Reynolds Tweeted about it. Reynolds wrote: “Hey, Pink, I’m soooooo happy for you lady!!! Congrats on baby!! P.s. You know your man whispered it to us at dinner. See I CAN keep a secret!!” Either Jillian Barberie Reynolds doesn’t know what “secret” means or she has no idea how Twitter works.
