Strangest Rumors Celebs Have Heard About Themselves

Imagine a life in which waiting in line at the grocery store entails looking at a magazine with your own face on it above a ridiculous caption. Celebrities might have it easy in some areas, but having to call friends and family members and convince them you are not dead—that can’t be fun.

Of course, these rumors run rampant because some of them are true, despite celebs trying to fend them off. We once asked Julianne Hough if she was dating Ryan Seacrest, and she told us: “I heard that too, it’s pretty funny.”

That’s not exactly a no, but she was definitely trying to bounce the accusation, and look how that one turned out. Here are 10 celebrities and the crazy rumors they’ve heard about themselves.

Jesse James: Jesse James told Hollyscoop the most bizarre rumor he heard about himself: “That I was dead.”

The self-deprecating motorcycle mogul added, “People like rumors that I got killed.”

Jason Derulo: There was a rumor circulating that Jason Derulo was going to work with the Queen of Pop, Madonna. When Hollyscoop asked Derulo about it, he told us: “That is a myth. I don’t know here it came from, but it’s a cool rumor.”

George Clooney: To the chagrin of gay men everywhere, George Clooney denied rumors that he was a homosexual. In an interview with Esquire, they showed Clooney a website that called him “gay, gay, gay.” Clooney joked: “No, I’m gay, gay. The third gay—that was pushing it.”

Jennifer Lopez: In 1999, tabloids were claiming that Jennifer Lope insured in her entire body for $1 billion. According to The New York Post, J.Lo’s breasts were valued at $100 million, and her butt and legs combined were $300 million. Lopez responded: “I don’t know where they got from. When I heard the story I thought it was very funny.”

Marilyn Manson: The rumor that Marilyn Manson was Paul from the Wonder Years has been circulating for years. Josh Saviano, the actor who played Paul, says he first heard the rumor in 1996, and still gets emails every week asking if it’s true:

“And I reply and say, ‘No, of course not.’ It doesn’t mean much to me. I find it humorous.”

Cameron Diaz: Cameron says the craziest rumor she’s heard about herself is: “That I only wash my face with Evian water.” Cameron jokes, “That's the craziest thing, since there are so many other bottled waters I wash my face with.”

Coco: In an interview, Ice-T’s wife says, “I am the epitome of people wanting to talk bad about me. They say, ‘her eyes are fake, her butt is fake, everything is fake, fake, fake.’ And I’m like no!” She then adds, “Ok, I have breast implants and that is it.”

Zac Efron: Put him down for dead, too. “Someone called me and they were like, ‘Oh, dude, you're alive!’” Efron said.

Beyonce: This is definitely weird. Beyonce reveals the weirdest Destiny’ Child secret: “That Michelle sang lead on the last album because she was dating my mom, and my mom told me that I had to let her sing lead. Crazy.”

Ozzy Osbourne: Back in the 80s, there was a rumor that a bunch of cats were going to be killed live onstage during one of Ozzy’s concerts.
“I don’t remember where the gig was — someone came into my dressing room, and he says to me, ‘Do you realize that you’ve petrified people in this town?’ I can’t even remember where I was. I said, ‘I don’t know what you mean.’ A lot of people just made it up. It was not [made up] by me.”
