Rumor is that they got engaged last year but Janet was in the middle of her "Number One: Up Close and Personal tour" and wasn't ready to go public with the engagement. So basically this is a "secret pre-engagement to the official engagement", which isn't confusing at all.

In a new interview with Atlanta's The Bert Show, Janet reveals that her and Jermaine are just "good friends," and even refers to him as her ex.
"I'm not the type of girl that stays in touch with your ex like that," Jackson added, but she insisted that it's different with Jermaine.
"Jermaine is one of my best friends," she said. "I love him to death. We're still connected. We're still good friends. We still talk."
The couple split in July after eight years together--they reportedly didn't see eye-to-eye in regards to her music career.
"We're there for one another," Jackson. "I think it will remain that way for the rest of my life."
Sounds like there's still a lot of love between them, so perhaps we shouldn’t rule out a reconciliation in the future.

A source tells People, “They never really broke up. Jermaine wanted to give her some space when Michael died.”
There’s been talk that Janet and Jermaine are so happy that they are planning a wedding. But when asked, Jermaine was quick to shoot down the rumors.
He said over the weekend, "They've been saying that for years and you don't see a ring on my finger. I guess it just sounds good to have that rumor this time of the year or something."
We know these two always do their own thing, so we’re just glad they seem happy again! Janet went through a lot this year with Michael passing away, so it’s good to see they’ve gotten through the worst of it.

Rumors of a split started when Jermaine was noticeably absent from Michael Jackson's memorial service back in July. Then one month later Janet confirmed the split to Harper's Bazaar.
She confirmed that they had split but added that she hadn't been on a date since. "I've had people ask me out. I haven't entertained any offers thus far," said Janet.
Well it looks like they finally came to their senses and realized their seven-year relationship was too valuable to fizzle. They were spotted together in Milan this week at Donatella Versace's private party.
Italy is so romantic, it probably has the power to reunite Britney and Justin. Janet and Jermaine didn't have a bad breakup, so we're glad they finally put their differences aside and decided to reunite.

Jermaine was noticeably absent from Michael Jackson's memorial service last week, but at the time a pal claimed it was because he "doesn't attend funerals."
So why would they split after 7 years? "You shouldn't mix business with pleasure," a mutual pal tells Us Weekly.
"Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate. Jermaine likes to be out there, mingling with everybody, and Janet's more shy."
Speaking of being out there, newly single Jermaine was spotted spinning at a Michael Jackson tribute last weekend at MIXX nightclub in Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. Jermaine's rep couldn't be reached for comment by the time this story went to press.
Janet is reportedly "devastated" by the breakup, but is keeping herself busy by caring for Michael's children. This is actually really sad, we really thought these two were gonna make it.
He recently got a huge tattoo of Janet's face as the Virgin Mary on his side, so he won't be forgetting about Janet anytime soon!

Their lover’s quarrel turned into a violent attack, which eventually sent Rihanna to the ER. Chris has already released a public apology in regards to the attack, but is it enough?
Hollyscoop caught up some of the biggest stars in the biz to get their reaction to the Chris Brown and Rihanna altercation. Here's what they had to say:
Jay Z:
"It's not a sound byte, this is a real situation. You have to have compassion for others. Just imagine it being your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that," he told Hollyscoop. "I just think we should all support her. She's going through a tough time. You have to realize she's a young girl, as well. She's very young."
John Legend:
“I know both of them. I was surprised when I heard because it doesn’t strike me as something Chris would do. You never know what’s inside people or what can trigger that. It’s an awful story. I feel terrible for both of them but if Chris did what they said he did, that’s unacceptable. He has to accept the consequences of it.”
Heidi Montag:
"I don't know what happened there, but our thoughts and prayers are definitely with both of them," Heidi told Hollyscoop exclusively. "It's a crazy situation and I just pray that everything heals."
Lindsay Lohan:
"I have no comment on that. That's not my relationship. I have no reason to speak about it. I think they're both great people."
Jermaine Dupri:
"I don't have any comment. I haven't heard anything, so I have no comment."
Gabrielle Union:
"I'd like to wait to comment when we actually have facts, but because we don't have any of those, I'm not going to comment on that specifically. But what is great about this unfortunate situation is that it can get the dialogue started about violence, whether that be gang violence, violence in schools, domestic violence, the war in Iraq, violence is never the answer, violence is not a means to an end. So, however you want to apply that...I know them both and I have not heard from either camp...So before we pass judgment we should probably wait and actually know what the hell we're talking about."
Carrie Underwood:
"I don't think anybody actually knows what happened. I have no advice because, thank goodness, I've never been in any kind of abusive situation. You hear a new one every five minutes, and some of them are getting kind of ridiculous. I really hope everyone will lay off and just let everybody who's involved figure out everything first."
Dwayne Wade:
"You know what, I don't want to say anything, because everything I've heard has been rumors. You hear 12 dif sides of the story, so until you know the truth you can't really talk about it."
Gayle King:
"I can't think of anything that makes me support anything that Chris Brown is saying at this time," King tells Extra. "And my heart just aches for Rihanna."
Donald Faison:
"No, that's none of my business, I don't know anything that happened that night. So, no, I have no thoughts."

What happens when you stop showing up to work? You get the boot. Dupri is reportedly no longer the President of Island Records as of Wednesday.
A source tells Page Six, "After [his girlfriend] Janet Jackson's album and tour bombed, he basically didn't come back to work. He still collected a paycheck, but didn't bother to do anything that he was supposed to do, like find artists, release records or actually show up. Executives tried to talk to him, but he just lost heart."
Dupri was widely blamed for Jackson's album flop because he insisted on giving her complete creative control over her album 'Discipline,' which backfired big time.
Dupri was credited for getting Mariah Carey back in the game with her album 'The Emancipation of Mimi'. He knows a thing or two about making great albums so maybe Janet should have taken the back seat and let him do what he was good at.
But now he's unemployed and her album is still a flop. They're both super talented so we're sure they'll bounce back in no time. What did you guys think of Janet's album?

Craig said, "Obama would be the better Bond, because, if he’s true to his word, he’d be willing to quite literally look the enemy in the eye and go toe-to-toe with them."
Unfortunately, Barack Obama has his hands full and won't be able to take on the role, so we gathered up some potential actors for your consideration.
There were reports that Oscar winner Jamie Foxx was eyeing the role, while Rap mogul P. Diddy has been making his own audition tape. Diddy reportedly spent a whopping $750,000 on the production, now that’s dedication! "There is a black president and it's time for there to be a black Bond," he explained.
Hollyscoop caught up with some of your favorite stars to see if we can add more auditions to the roster. Check out their answers below along with our special video below and you tell us who should be the next Black James Bond.
Will Smith: “Listen, there's certain characters that we gotta leave alone.”
Jermaine Dupri: "I've been James Bond," he joked. "They just got on that."
will.i.am: "No, because I don’t want hurt nobody's feelings. I get that role, cause I am international...Who do you think should get it? Me?"
50 Cent: "For the next James Bond Audition? I don’t go to auditions," he joked.
Marlon Wayans: "I think I would look better in a suit, and I would be cooler with the gadgets." He added, "We're going to make him African. He isn’t going to speak English, he's going to be totally hip hop."
