Matt Who? Jeremy Renner has earned his chops in action and dramatic roles alike. Okay, mostly action but he was damn compelling in ‘The Hurt Locker.’ Not bad in that Robot Chicken episode, either. I know how to use IMDB.
Anyway, the first full teaser trailer for The Bourne Legacy has been released from Universal, starring Jeremy Renner, who replaced Matt Damon as the movie’s lead character.
The trailer starts off with an homage to Alfred Hitchcock. There are bars that slide across the screen, taken from the classic Psycho. Then, despite being named in the credits as Aaron Cross, Jeremy’s character is introduced as Kenneth. He’s also introduced with blood speckled across his face, drawing us in to immediately wonder what the hell has happened to this guy.
Edward Norton is also introduced, taking on the villain role in the movie. We’re introduced to his character in the trailer, who is trying to see if Aaron is completely committed to their program, named “Outcome.”
The movie is written and directed by Tony Gilroy, whom Matt Damon recently criticized. Damon called Gilroy’s original script “unreadable.”
"I don't blame Tony for taking a boatload of money and handing in what he handed in. It's just that it was unreadable. This is a career-ender. I mean, I could put this thing up on eBay and it would be game over for that dude. It's terrible. It's really embarrassing. He was having a go, basically, and he took his money and left."
Damon later apologized for his statement.
