Jeremy Piven Gets Mercury Poisoning

This is really bizarre. Jeremy Piven has just had to drop out of the Broadway show Speed-the-Plow he’s been doing because he’s been poisoned by Mercury.

We heard yesterday that Jeremy took two days off from the show, but figured it was due to too much partying.

Well now Variety reports that Jeremy won’t be coming back to the show at all after his doctors ordered him to stop the show immediately. David Mamet, the writer of the play, seems to be taking it all in stride though.

He says of the news, "I talked to Jeremy on the phone and he told me that he discovered that he had a very high level of mercury. So my understanding is that he is leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer.

“The good news is that some really great actors will be helping out and stepping in, which to me is a sign of great heroism and friendship.”

Well we hope Jeremy gets better soon! What a strange thing to come down with!

Well, some TV people just canot do 8 shows a week as opposed to a shooting schedule for a week and a week off.
