Capitalizing on her latest rise to the forefront of pop culture consciousness and post-divorce relationship with a dancer 17 years her junior, Jennifer Lopez has reportedly signed a deal for a new reality show for the Oxygen network.
The New York Post reports that the series won’t be about Lopez, but will center on her boyfriend Casper Smart’s career… that currently centers around working for Lopez.
The show will focus on Smart as he, recently promoted to choreographer for Lopez’s upcoming tour, “whips her other backup dancers into shape.”
One of the hottest couples in the world (or at least the media), the two will reportedly keep things clean on camera and focus solely on their “professional relationship.”
No word yet from Oxygen or reps for Lopez if the project is indeed in the works.
Regardless of Smart’s previous accomplishments (little things like touring with Michael Jackson) and anything the ambitious 25-year-old might tackle in the future, he’s sadly never going to rise above the insurmountable fame of his megastar girlfriend and financier. Or at the very least be able to crawl out from under the boy-toy label that now pre-fixes any mention of his name.
Though it’s sure to entertain (for the wrong or right reasons), the problem with a show about Smart is that nobody really cares about Smart. Hate to be the one to go here, but Casper might as well be a ghost.
