Backyard BBQ’s and an extra day of sleeping in and lounging around is great and all, but for those who wanted to go big this Memorial Day weekend, Las Vegas was the place to be.
Jennifer Lopez and her soon-to-be former husband Marc Anthony put on a show Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Events center durning the finale of their show “Q'Viva! The Chosen Live,” where they reportedly seemed “close” and held hands on stage. They also did some singing. If you hadn’t heard of the show, it’s too late now, but you apparently missed a star studded, heavily sponsored extravaganza that, “goes straight to the core and touches the heart of the people of Latin America.” So now you know. Did I mention that JLo was there?
After the concert, Lopez celebrated the launch of her new single ‘Goin’ In’ at the hot club Hyde Bellagio inside Bellagio Casino and Resort. The star was escorted through the lavish casino by golf cart and accompanied by a large entourage including boyfriend Casper Smart. She arrived on the red carpet in style wearing a stunning cream and gold sequined ensemble complete with sparkly Christian Louboutin heels. Upon entering the sleek club to the tune of ‘Jenny From The Block,’ Lopez made her way to a plush VIP booth overlooking the dance floor. She made herself at home, slipping into a more comfortable but still stylish pair of heels and a Hyde Bellagio baseball cap before dancing with a group of girlfriends to Nicki Minaj’s ‘Finally Famous.’
After launching his DJ residency “Who Came To Party!?” at WET REPUBLIC at MGM Grand last weekend, Sky Blu made his second appearance Sunday at the pool party destination and performed to a sold-out crowd. Then, Sunday night, with the help of reigning Miss USA Alyssa Campanella and the 2012 Miss USA Contestants, the Grammy Award-nominee, singer, songwriter, producer and DJ did a repeat show and debuted “Who Came To Party!?” at PURE Nightclub at Caesars Palace.
Pulling out all the stops, Sky Blu, joined by fellow Big Bad artists Mark Rosas, girlfriend Chelsea Korka and BVillain, made a grand entrance as they were escorted through the main floor of the Vegas hot spot by a full drumline as they beat to LMFAO’s “Shots” all the way to the stage.
The performance DJ took his residency to a new level as he incorporated dancers, instrumentalists and special guests DJs. Sky Blu was joined by The Smiley Gang, featuring fellow Big Bad artists Mark Rosas, BVillain and girlfriend Chelsea Korka. The four performance DJs and producers took turns manning the decks as they spun their pulsating tracks while the others kept the crowd dancing all night long. Sky Blu was full of energy throughout the entire performance as he was seen dancing, jumping around and shuffling down the catwalk to get closer to his fans.
The rest of the holiday weekend action appeared to go down at the Palms Casino Resort. On Friday, Taboo of Black Eyed Peas, Mark Foster of Foster the People and DJ Roger Sanchez all preformed at various venues throughout the casino. Taboo (aka “not Fergie) kept things up-tempo, working in break dancers and lots of fire, Mark Foster ditched his “The People” and entertained solo to a crowd that featured Busta Rhymes, and DJ/ Producer Roger Sanchez did... whatever it is that DJ’s do involving a Mac, iTunes and a few button and knobs.
Busta Rhymes surfaced again as the main event at Palms Pool Party Saturday bringing his energy and extensive entertainment history to a zealous crowd, “You like classics? I got 20 years of classics to squeeze in today.”
And for those that didn’t get their fill poolside, Ludacris wanted them to know that, he “can do this all night,” as he kept the party going late at the Palms Rain Nightclub as he “Disturbed tha Peace.” Though rumor has it that he, decked out in all black, might have been upstaged by his hottie girlfriend Eudoxie, a vision in white.
So there you go... and remember, what happens in Vegas doesn’t always necessarily have to stay there.
