The Hunger Games franchise/cult has premiered the poster for the Catching Fire adaptation, and it features a Mockingjay, and it moves, and it’s perfect, and ARE YOU HYPERVENTILATING YET?!!?!
For those who haven’t read the books/seen the movies and thought this image of a bird with its bronzed wings a-spread roasting in spectacular flight was just an ad for Thanksgiving tomorrow, it’s not. It’s for Catching Fire, the second installment of Hunger Games, and you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s better than Thanksgiving.
As everyone with way too much free time on their hands to read the series 12 times knows, the image of the illustrious Mockingjay pin changes position—a new logo on each of the trilogy’s covers. Twisting out of its aerobic flexible posture into a much more striking stance, the Mockingjay on the poster tells little in way of story, but since it so closely resembles the cover this just alerts us that it probably sticks deliberately close to the books and all that matters.
But before you get too giddy with excitement, like the fine print on your favorite snack quietly informing you of its 15,000 calorie intake, Catching Fire isn’t out until November 22, 2013. That’s right, 2013. Exactly one year and a day from now! So, let’s all just take a nap, and wake each other up around then because obviously nothing this exciting could happen within the next 365 days anyway. Good night!
