Jennifer Hudson to Make Public Appearance

December 23, 2008

After the tragic shootings of her mother, brother and nephew, actress/singer Jennifer Hudson went into hiding (do we blame her?) and hasn't been seen since. She was supposed to return to work earlier this month, but decided it was too early.

Hudson will make her first public appearance since her family tragedy on February 6 to perform at the MusiCares person of the year gala.

She will join Tim McGraw, Josh Groban, Foo Fighters, and Coldplay on stage and sing a few Neil Diamond songs. The gala will be held two days before the Grammy Awards, which is set to air on Feb. 8 at L.A.'s Staples Center.

Earlier this month Hudson said: "It's been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing." She added, "I am extremely honored and humbled by the nominations."

And talk about being nominated! She is up for best R&B album for her self-titled album, best female R&B vocal performance, best R&B song for Spotlight and best R&B performance by a duo or group for her song with American Idol champ Fantasia Barrino, I'm His Only Woman.

Can't wait for her triumphant return!
