Jennifer Hudson is undoubtedly still grieving the loss of her mom, brother and nephew, who were brutally murdered three years ago.
Today, jury selection is set to begin in the trial of William Balfour, who is accused of shooting Hudson’s family members in their Chicago home in 2008. He’s also Jennifer’s former brother-in-law.
Jennifer is listed as a potential witness and she’s expected to appear regularly in court once opening statements kick off on April 23.
The 150 potential jurors were given a 26 page questionnaire, and Jennifer is a major part of that questionnaire. Some of the J.Hud-related questions include:
* Have you ever seen a movie in which Jennifer Hudson played any role?
* Have you ever seen Jennifer Hudson perform in person? * Do you belong to any organization for which Jennifer Hudson is a spokesperson?
* Have you ever read a magazine or newspaper interview with Jennifer Hudson or an article about Jennifer Hudson or heard or seen a television or radio interview with Jennifer Hudson?
Jennifer says the tragedy is “all a blur. It was surreal. It was like I was outside of myself.”
She credits her fiancé David Otunga and their son, David, Jr. with helping her get through the loss. And Jennifer says her hope is to become the type of mom her own mother was to her.
“In so many ways I channel her because she was such a great mom,” Jennifer has said. “I want [David Jr.] to get the same love and the same upbringing my mother gave us.”
