The trial has come to a close and Jennifer Hudson’s brother-in-law William Balfour has been found guilty of 1st degree murder and faces life behind bars.

After two days of jury deliberation at Cook County Court in Chicago, the verdict was reached and Balfour, the estranged husband of Jennifer’s sister Julia, has been convicted of 1st degree murder in the deaths of Jennifer’s mom Darnell Donerson, her brother Jason Hudson, and nephew Julian King. The tragic slayings occurred in 2008.
Prosecutors have rested in the trial against William Balfour.

The Chicago man is accused of murdering three family members of Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson.

After calling 83 witnesses to the stand, the prosecution concluded their presentation late Tuesday. Of the 83, Balfour was not included.

A recorded 911 call has been released from the trial of William Balfour, the man accused of killing the mother, brother and nephew of Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Hudson. The frantic call was placed by Hudson’s sister, Julia, who discovered her mother's lifeless body on October 24. 2008 and called 911.

“Somebody help. Please!” a panicked Julia pleaded to a 911 operator, “Somebody’s killed my mother. Somebody’s killed my mother.”

With the trial of 30-year-old Balfour moving into its sixth day of prosecution, Judge Charles Burns ruled that the recording be released. The judge cited that the defendant’s due-process rights would not be affected by doing so.

Holding her composure, Jennifer Hudson took the stand Monday in the case against William Balfour, a man accused of killing her mother, brother and her seven-year-old nephew.

The Englewood native, dressed in black, arrived at the Cook County courtroom wearing no makeup and gave a tearful testimony.

She informed jurors that many of the family members did not trust Balfour from the beginning

Jennifer Hudson is undoubtedly still grieving the loss of her mom, brother and nephew, who were brutally murdered three years ago.

Today, jury selection is set to begin in the trial of William Balfour, who is accused of shooting Hudson’s family members in their Chicago home in 2008. He’s also Jennifer’s former brother-in-law.

Jennifer is listed as a potential witness and she’s expected to appear regularly in court once opening statements kick off on April 23.
Jennifer Hudson was tapped at the last minute to perform a "respectful music tribute" to the late Whitney Houston at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards.

Hudson showed up for rehearsals in Los Angeles Sunday morning to sing Whitney's most famous balled, 'I Will Always Love You.' Sadly, Hudson reportedly "began sobbing hysterically" backstage during the rehearsal.

The show must go on. Yesterday the world of music lost one of its brightest stars, so its no surprise that the 2012 Grammy Awards kicked off with a tribute to Whitney Houston.

As the awards ceremony began, Dave Koz, the co-host of the Grammys, addressed the tragedy, and honoring the "great legacy of Miss Whitney Houston."

"She's in our hearts and our minds," Koz said.
Jennifer Hudson has put on a brave face since the tragic 2008 deaths of her family members.

Jennifer lost three family members on October 24 of that year. Her mother, her 29 year-old brother, Jason Hudson, and seven year-old nephew, Julian King, were all murdered.

Now, William Balfour is scheduled to appear in a Chicago courtroom on April 23 to face counts of murder, aggravated kidnapping and home invasion stemming from those deaths.
Earlier this week Jennifer Hudson admitted that she was the first choice to play Precious in the gritty Oscar winning film "Precious," but turned down the role because she was afraid to gain all that weight. "I had gained weight with Effie [her role in "Dreamgirls"] and as much as I was moved by this film, I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight."

So she then went and appeared in the "Sex and The City" movie instead, because that was a great movie! Same caliber as "Precious" and everything!

So anyways, what other actors were "almost" in a movie. Or turned down a role at the last minute?

Will Smith: Will Smith was THIS close to playing Keanu Reeve's part in "The Matrix." You know, I could see "The Matrix" starring Will Smith instead, too bad Will choose the blue pill. Or the red pill? Whichever one is the wrong one, he chose that-ok, this Matrix reference is not working out.
