Jennifer Grey

While the public wasn't too happy with the news of a Dirty Dancing remake, Jennifer Grey gave it her blessing:

“I love @Kennyortega and trust that he will do something special #DirtyDancingRemake,” the original star Tweeted on Monday night.

"Blown away by all of the love expressed for #DirtyDancing. Makes me want to see it again. So grateful to have been a part of it."

There's a fine line between people expressing their "love" and them expressing their disgust over yet another unnecessary Hollywood remake.

Since starring in Dirty Dancing back in 1987, Jennifer Gray hasn't just disappeared into obscurity. The actress won Season 11 of Dancing With the Stars and married actor/director Clark Gregg in 2001.

So how are the rest of our favorite 80's stars holding up thirty years later?
Sometimes, a remake can be awesome. Other times, the original was so good, it should be left where it belongs: in our memories and on a VHS somewhere in the back of my storage closet.

The latest to jump on the remake bandwagon is Dirty Dancing, the 1987 film starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.

The remake will reportedly incorporate songs from the original and will be directed by the original choreographer, Kenny Ortega. But this is Dirty Dancing, a movie that’s iconic for so many of us. And with the death of Patrick Swayze, it’s become legendary. A remake will never come close to the original, so why try?

If Hollywood is known for anything, it’s—well—sex and drug scandals. But also, unnecessary remakes. Here are ten of them that didn’t need to happen.
Don't MISS out on Breaking News!
Wow, talk about a nail biter! There were a lot of highs and a lot of lows this season on Dancing with the Stars, but there can only be one champion, and this season the mirror ball trophy belonged to Jennifer Grey.

The audience cheered and some even broke into tears when Jennifer was named the dancing queen, while her partner Derek Hough jumped up and down from excitement. On Monday night Jennifer & Derek scored perfect 30's on both their dances, so if anyone deserved to win, it was them!

Jennifer had to make a trip to the hospital on Tuesday morning after injuring a disk in her back, but that didn't stop her from performing one last time on Tuesday. And boy did she perform! She wowed the judges one last time with her Viennese waltz, and at that point it was obvious Jennifer was the big winner of the night.

She performed with such elegance and poise, the judges were blown away, and so was I! "You are the complete package," judge Len Goodman told Jennifer. They of course got another perfect score, 30 out of 30.

Kyle Massey came in second with 26 points and Bristol Palin was third with 25 points. This is Derek Hough's third win, he's won with Nicole Scherzinger and Brooke Burke before, but Jennifer was so amazing this season she would have won with any partner. But Derek still deserves a nice pat on the back. Did you watch the season finale? Who were you rooting for?
On Monday's nights Dancing with the Stars, Jennifer and Derek proved once again why they deserve the mirror ball trophy getting perfect scores on both dances.

Jennifer & Derek received a 30 out of 30 for their Paso Doble and another perfect 30 for their freestyle. "I wish I could give you an 11," said Bruno after they completed their dance.

Kyle and his partner Lacey opted for a funky hip-hop dance for their freestyle, something judge Len Goodman isn't usually a fan of, but even he gave them a great score. They got 27 out of 30 for their foxtrot and 29 for their freestyle.

Bristol and Mark have been on the bottom of the leader board for seven weeks in a row and last night was no exception. They danced the jive first and she attempted to dance to a song from the musical Chicago, but the judges weren't too thrilled with her performance. They got a 27 for their jive and 26 for their freestyle.

Judging by numbers alone its clear Jennifer deserves the mirror ball trophy, but at this point it's anyone’s game. All three couples will perform again tonight on DWTS and viewer’s votes will help determine who is crowned the dancing queen. Some viewers on the DWTS chat room on Monday night said that if Bristol wins the show, they're going to boycott the show forever. But if she's made it this far, there's a good chance she can take home the trophy.

Will you be upset if Bristol wins? Who are you rooting for? In the meanwhile, check out Bristol's performance below...

Brandy and Maksim may have gotten the highest scores on Dancing with the Stars on Monday night, but Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough stole the show with their foxtrot.

Dancing to "Love and Marriage" during TV theme night, the dynamic duo impressed judges with their Foxtrot. Grumpy Len Goodman said the whole performance was "too theatrical" for him, but they won me over!

They ultimately got a 25 (8, 8, 9) for their Foxtrot in week 5. Jennifer definitely has what it takes to make it to the final. Check out their amazing performance below!

Mike "The Situation" got one of the lowest scores of the season on Dancing with the Stars Monday night, but Jennifer Grey definitely picked up the slack.

Grey got the first 10's on this season of DWTS and after you watch her super sexy Argentine tango with partner Derek Hough, you'll know why!

Bruno Tonioli called their routine "primetime delight," while Carrie Ann Inaba simply gushed: "That was amazing." They scored straight nines for their technique, and two 10s and a nine for their performance. Check out their performance below...

Jennifer Grey continues to wow us on Dancing with the Stars! She and Derek Hough performed a samba on last night’s episode, and they were fantastic!

The judges were a little stricter with them on technicality, but it’s only because they’re so good! Check out the performane below—it’s obvious why they’re still the frontrunners!

For the second week in a row, Jennifer Grey wowed judges on DWTS with her impressive dance moves.

Jennifer and Derek Hough's Jive was so lively, it brought audiences to their feet.

Carrie Anna Inaba called Jennifer a "bionic bunny" adding that the performance was "amazing" all the way through.

They earned 8's from all three judges putting them on the top of the leader board. Check out their performance below...
