Jennifer Anne Garner was born on April 17, 1972, in Houston, Texas and commenced her dream of becoming a professional performer with a theatre degree from Ohio's Denison University. Following her graduation in 1996, Garner began entertaining crowds on the New York City theatre stage before relocating to Los Angeles and making her presence known to Hollywood in the TV programs Law & Order (1996) and Spin City (1996).
Garner went on to give a consistently pleasing performance as a reoccurring character on the TV series Felicity (1998 - 2000), which caught the attention of the show's producer and eventually led to her big break as Sydney Bristow and Anna Espinosa in the TV series Alias (2001 - 2006). While on the show, Garner won her first Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in 2002 and went on to earn three additional nominations for the same category in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Also during this time, Garner was transitioning onto the big screen with likable appearances in the comedy Dude, Where's My Car (2000), the war drama Pearl Harbor (2001) and the drama thriller Catch Me If You Can (2002) prior to transforming into Elektra in Daredevil (2003) opposite her now-husband Ben Affleck.
In 2004, the rising starlet landed her first leading role in the comedy 13 Going on 30, followed by Elektra (2005) and the dramedy Catch and Release (2006). The following year, Garner demonstrated her acting versatility with prominent, dramatic performances in the action thriller The Kingdom (2007) and the Academy Award-winning dramedy Juno (2007).
Garner's career then started to lose momentum when she attached her name to star-studded films with weak storylines and characters, such as the romantic comedies The Invention of Lying (2009), Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009) alongside Matthew McConaughey, Valentine's Day (2010) with Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Anne Hathaway, Bradley Cooper, Patrick Dempsey and Kathy Bates, as well as Arthur (2011) alongside Russell Brand.
Garner's most recent projects include, the dramedy The Odd Life of Timothy Green (2012) and the drama Dallas Buyers Club (2013) with Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.
