Congratulations Jean Dujardin, The Academy loves an underdog! The academy also loves dogs too, congratulations Uggie the dog on all your media coverage! Anyways, French actor Jean Dujardin is celebrating his first Oscar nomination and win today for his role in silent film, “The Artist.”
Natalie Portman presented the award and put it best when she said, “what a way to introduce yourself to American audiences.”
Jean began his speech with, “I love the country.” No need to win us over Jean, it’s clear we’re all kind of obsessed with “The Artist.”
“Thank you to my wonderful partner Berenice Bejo,” he adds and also thanks his wife of course.
Jean Dujardin, ended his speech by exclaiming, “If my character George Valentin could speak he would say…” and then Dujardin burst out into French, “Formidable! genial!” and which translates roughly to English as “Exciting! Awesome!”
The other nominated actors include Demian Bichir (“A Better Life”), George Clooney (“The Descendants”), Gary Oldman (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”), and Brad Pitt (“Moneyball”).
