When you're a club owner, you can go out and party and call it "work."
And Jay-Z is back to work. The new dad of Beyonce's baby, Blue Ivy Carter, made his first public appearance since she was born earlier this month. The rapper re-launched his New York City nightclub, 40/40, and everyone was celebrating Blue Ivy's debut.
Jay-Z laid on a champagne tower create with 350 handmade gold Armand de Brignac bottles stretching from floor to ceiling and was topped with a baby-carrying stork. Most awesome baby shower ever.
A source said: "All that preparation must have been thirsty work - judging from the champagne tower Jay laid on. Nothing like that has ever been created before. It was a bit OTT but he's mad about his daughter. There's nothing he wouldn't do for her. You'd expect nothing less from the richest man in rap."
And we all know, when we love someone, it makes us want to lay on massive tower of champagne. Celebrity guests included: Alex Rodriguez, Alicia Keys, and some members of the New Jersey Nets as well as the Yankees. Ashanti and Spike Lee also attended the soiree.
"Security was phenomenal," a source told the Daily Mirror. "With guests being frisked at the door and people going through metal detectors to make sure no weapons were brought in for the club's grand re-opening."
The source added: "No wonder security was tight. A lot of money has been pumped into Jay's club, with state of the art 165in video screens, and they weren't about to take any risks with gate-crashers."
