Looks like we weren't the only ones hoping for an invite to
Jay Z and
Beyonce's wedding in April 2008.
Apparently the couple "offended" a lot of people by keeping their ceremony so small and hush hush.
Jay Z told
Oprah in an interview for O magazine: "Very few people knew about it. The sad part is that we offended some. But people who love you understand because, at the end of the day, it's your day."
Jay added that he and Beyonce prefer not to talk about each other in the press, explaining: "When you're a public person, you have to keep some things to yourself."
After the small ceremony at Jay's penthouse apartment in New York, they had a lavish, yet small, reception attended by Beyonce's parents, Tina and Mathew Knowles, her sister Solange, Destiny's Child bandmates
Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams and their actress friend
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.
There was less than 30 guests at their wedding, so it's a little hard to be offended by that. If they had a 300 person wedding and close friends didn't get an invite that would be another story.
