Jay Leno Gets Heat from WGA

Oh oh! Talk show host Jay Leno keeps digging his hole deeper and deeper when it comes to the Writers strike. Leno is getting heat from the Writers Guild of America for ignoring the union's strike and going forward with his own monologues for 'The Tonight Show' for the second night in a row.

Although Jay opens every one of his shows with a monologue, the WGA says he is violating the terms he agreed to before returning to the air.

The Guild said in a statement, "A discussion took place today between Jay Leno and the Writers Guild to clarify to him that writing for The Tonight Show constitutes a violation of the Guilds' strike rules."

Do you think its right for Leno to get so much heat for writing his own material? Aren't comedians supposed to write their own jokes anyway? Either way, Leno is the one with the last laugh because he returned after a two-month hiatus to the biggest ratings.

Comedians write their own jokes, but not when they are on strike. Jay Leno is a member of the WGA, and he is currently on strike. Writing jokes for his employer, NBC (GE), during a strike is a violation of strike rules.

I say lets break the Union. There is no need for them in today's economy or workplace as there was when they were first employed. I say let every individual negotiate for themselves and rest their paycheck and livelihoods on their own merits involving their negotiating skills, then this will be a constitutional country again. And frankly, give Leno a break, remember there are more people that work for this show than him and the writers, I say Go Get em Jay.

I'm glad there's unions. There's a place for unions. If you don't want to be in a union, don't join unions, but it is a constitional right to unionize.
