Spoiler alert! The winner of season one of ‘The Voice’ was just named--it’s Javier Colon, Adam Levine's protégé.
It was a close call but Javier ended up getting enough viewers votes to win Wednesday’s finale. As the season winner he gets a recording contract and a $100,000 prize.
“Thank you! I don’t even know where to begin other to say the three women behind me are absolutely awesome,” Javier said while holding back tears on stage.
“It was a pleasure to be here with them and I want to thank everybody at home who believed in me and voted for me and [I want to thank] my family."
Javier had an amazing performance with Stevie Nicks during the season finale, which he called the "highlight" of the night. Javier told Hollyscoop:
"Singing with Stevie [was the highlight]. I don't know how I'm going to top that. I feel like my career is just beginning again and at the same time I don't know how I can beat singing with Stevie Nicks and singing such an amazing song like 'Landslide' with such an icon is something I won't forget."
Javier also confessed to HS the pressure he feels as the first ever winner. "I feel some pressure [as the first winner], you gottta go out there and show folks why you are the winner. You gotta go out there and prove to them that you deserve it."
He added, "I'm excited to go out there. I'm not going to treat it any differently than I did in this competition. You go out you do one thing at a time. The next performance that I have to do I'm going to focus on that. I'm going to do the best that I can and I'll move on to the next task."
Adam Levine was so thrilled that Javier won he told Hollyscoop he would "absolutely" love to duet with Javier in the near future. "That dude can sing on any song and it would be amazing," Adam told Hollyscoop backstage, adding that it's been "such an overwhelming night with Stevie [Nicks] being here and Javier winning."
"We were nervous we didn't know what the hell was going on, but wow! I mean, this is the perfect day. There aren't many of those. This is amazing," Adam told Hollyscoop.
Runner-up Dia Frampton added to Hollyscoop that she felt "honored" to share the stage with Javier tonight. "He's such a genuine person...He's just always thinking of his family and they're always thinking of him."
‘The Voice’ host Carson Daly confessed it was an extremely close race and the winner and runner up were within two percent of each other. But of course runner-up Dia of Team Blake Shelton was so amazing all season, I wouldn’t be surprised if she scored her own record deal.
