5 Things You Didn't Know About Javier Colon

Javier Colon was crowned the winner of season 1 of The Voice last night, but who is this gifted singer?

5 Things you didn’t know about Javier Colon:

1) Javier has performed with Joss Stone, The Indigo Girls, Chaka Khan and in 2009 he was a featured singer and songwriter for song, “October sky” on Vanessa Williams vocal album. But his favorite celebrity collaboration was performing with Stevie Nicks on The Voice, He tells Hollyscoop, “…I don’t know how I can beat singing with Stevie Nicks and singing such an amazing song like ‘Landslide’ with such an icon is something I won’t forget.

2) Javier was once signed to Capitol Records and released his debut album in 2003. His first single, “Crazy” debuted at #95 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #42 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

3) He started his career playing percussion and singing with the Connecticut-based soul/funk band EmcQ and then moved on to performing with the Derek Trucks band before going solo in 2002.

4) He has a degree in music education and if music didn’t work out, he would teach music at school. He also has two kids of his own at home, “My oldest is 3 and a half, I finally got to see her after the show and she’s like, ‘Daddy Daddy we saw you win on the TV.’”

5) He’s got celeb support. Justin Bieber is a huge fan of Javier Colon, Justin has been tweeting at Javier’s handle @Javstwtr, “Good luck 2nite to @Javstwtr and my basketball rival @AdamLevine on The Voice. Everybody support. Thanks. @Javstwtr can sing!” I wonder if Biebers kazallion fans were responsible for Javier’s win?
