Now, the Oscar-nominated actor is taking on another bad guy role—a villain in the 23rd James Bond movie. Bardem confirmed the news with Nightline:
"I'm a huge fan of the James Bond saga. When I was little, I went watching Mr. Connery doing James Bond with my father. I saw all of them, so to play that is going to be fun. Who in the world would think I'd be in one of those movies?"
Why do I imagine Javier Bardem flipping a coin when he says all this?

Jennifer Aniston & Julianne Hough: Julianne Hough is that ballroom dancer from "Dancing With the Stars" whose been skyrocketing to fame for dating Ryan Seacrest and starring in the new "Footloose" remake. With her blown-out blonde locks and girl-next-door good looks, she is a dead ringer for a young Jennifer Aniston. With Hough on the rise and appearing in every single dance film, she could make her way into the romantic comedy genre and give Aniston a run for her money.
Taylor Lautner and Kris Humphries: Kim Kardashian's new husband Kris Humphries totally looks like he could be "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner's big brother, right? If the Twilight franchise needs more werewolves and if Kris Humphries ever gets sick of basketball, I think we have a match made in heaven. Lautner and Humphries both have those squinty eyes, flat eyebrows and close-cropped haircuts....

Celebs, on the other hand, have the luxury of blaming their changing looks on the colorful roles they take on. And because stars are called out for every flaw, sometimes getting a bad haircut—or even shaving it all off—can be liberating. Other times, it leaves them feeling like the lead singer of a 90s punk band, and they opt for extensions. Here are 10 celebs and the bad haircuts they got for movie roles.
Natalie Portman: When Natalie Portman was filming V for Vendetta, her long, beautiful locks were chopped off during filming. In a single shot, the one-take-wonder had her natural hair shaved-off while the cameras were rolling, and she was in character crying.
Javier Bardem: Javier Bardem’s Dora The Explorer haircut in No Country for Old Men was so bad, it left the actor depressed.
Costar Josh Brolin claimed: “[Javier] was depressed during the process…he felt like he wouldn’t have sex for three months. Full-blown depression. I mean, bad.”

First a surprise Oscar nomination then a baby? Javier Bardem and his wife Penelope Cruz certainly had a Biutiful day!
According to Spanish newspaper El Pais, Penelope went into labor today and gave birth at Cedars Sinai Hospital in L.A.
Penelope and Javier are notoriously private so we don't even know the sex of the baby.
She wouldn't even confirm her pregnancy until she was almost five months and her growing belly became increasingly hard to hide.
Can't wait to find out the sex and name of the baby! Stay tuned for more details...

Javier admits he wasn't sure what he wanted out of his life when he first started working so he decided to try his hand at several different things, and one of them was stripping.
He explained: “I did it as a joke, for some friends at first. But a guy in the bar we were in spotted me and hired me for the next day.
“I was so bad, I did it to ‘Leave Your Hat On’, and I had to get my mother and sister to cheer me on.”
Wow, most mothers would disown their children, talk about being a supportative mother!
Luckily he started getting more and more acting gigs and gave up his job as a stripper. He added to The Times newspaper: “I realized I was becoming an actor, so I thought, ‘OK, stop. If I’m going to do this, I have to do it right because of my surname.’ ”
And boy has he come a long way! Him and wife Penelope Cruz welcomed their first child together yesterday--a healthy baby boy!

Also to all of those who showed their support to my work in "Biutiful" I express my heartfelt gratitude. I am very happy for Alejandro and everyone who has made possible the special movie we made together. The 2011 Academy Award nominations were announced today in Beverly Hills, and one thing that was certain is that The King's Speech reigned this year.
The King's Speech led all films with 12 nominations, with True Grit and Inception close behind with 10 and eight, respectively.
Mark Wahlberg was surprisingly left off the Best Actor nominations list, but his The Fighter co-stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo all got nominations.
Full Oscar Nominations List
Mila Kunis also got snubbed for Best Supporting Actress for Black Swan, but I wasn't too surprised about that one.
Other notable snubs: Michael Douglas for Wall Street 2; Andrew Garfield for The Social Network; Matt Damon for True Grit; Ryan Gosling for Blue Valentine; Julianne Moore for The Kids Are All Right; Halle Berry for Frankie & Alice; Paul Giamatti for Barney's Version (he won the Golden Globe).
Best Actress nominee Natalie Portman told Hollyscoop earlier this month, "It's a really big honor to have people respond so positively to something we all put so much heart into and so much love into."
Fellow Best Actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence is still in awe of all the praise she's been getting for her role in Winter's Bone. She told Hollyscoop at the Golden Globe awards she's in shock about it and she's "still wrapping [her] head around the Golden Globes [nomination]."
Christopher Nolan was snubbed for the intricately directed Inception, but the movie got 10 nominations total. It's the second time he was snubbed for Best Director--the first being for The Dark Knight.
Probably the biggest surprise of the morning was see Javier Bardem's work in Biutiful nominated for Best Actor.
When asked about a possible nomination at the Palm Springs Film Festival earlier this month Javier told Hollyscoop that his good pal Julia Roberts held a screening for him and is rooting for his nomination. "I think that she is very generous--very generous of what she did, which is throwing a screening for me she is a great actress. I am really deeply grateful to her for what she did."
Who will you be rooting for come February 27th? And who are you upset got left off the list?

The show is presented by Cartier, and who doesn't love Cartier?! The Awards Gala will kick off the 2011 awards season on Saturday, January 8 at the Palm Springs Convention Center and will be hosted by "Entertainment Tonight's" Mary Hart.
The International Star Award recognizes an actor or actress who has both critically and commercially made the successful cross over from foreign-language films to mainstream international recognition. Bardem will join previously announced honorees Jennifer Lawrence and Carey Mulligan.

"Having honed his skills in a family of film actors, Bardem brings a stinging intensity to his performances. He riveted audiences with his portrayal in No Country for Old Men and continues to raise the bar in his latest film, Biutiful. Javier Bardem now ranks among the cinematic elite. The Palm Springs International Film Festival is proud to present the 2011 International Star Award to Javier Bardem."

Javier, who is expecting a baby with his gorgeous new bride Penelope Cruz talks to Esquire about why he thinks he's dying (he's a hypochondriac), why he's fascinated with doctors, and why he's not a celebrity. Here are some highlights from the interview:
Javier on being a hypochondriac: "I used to be a hypochondriac, but I was a young man then," he says. "Now I really am sick."
Javier on doctors: "These are the guys you should be writing about," Bardem says, nodding at the doctors. "They should be on the cover of your magazine. They save lives. I only make movies. The world is a funny place. It doesn't make any sense."
On being an actor, not a celebrity: "I have to believe in what I'm doing, otherwise I don't stand a chance."
On seeing Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu's debut English-language film, 21 Grams: "I remember, I almost got hit by a car walking out after," he says. "I was so moved by it. I wasn't right for a week." So Bardem was eager when he was offered the lead role in Iñárritu's Biutiful. "They are only movies," he says, "but I want to make movies that count for something."
On his new movie Biutiful:"I think it's a masterpiece," he said, "and it needs help."

News started to spread quickly when pictures of the sexy actress sporting a baby bump on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides were released online.
A source on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides where Cruz is currently shooting scenes in Puerto Rico alongside Johnny Depp confirmed to Hollyscoop saying, "Penelope is definitely 100% pregnant, and everyone is trying to keep it very well under wraps."
There is only so long you can keep a pregnancy under wraps, which is why her rep confirmed the great news.
In past interviews, Cruz has said that she will be an amazing mother, whether she adopted or had children on her own.
“I’d love to have kids,” she said. “Maybe I’ll adopt about 20 children — that’s been my dream since I was a little girl. I want to have my own kids, but also adopt. For a while I’ve had the feeling that my life won’t be complete if I don’t adopt.
“I think I would be a perfect mother. I love babies.”
Congrats to Cruz and her sexy husband Javier Bardem!
