January Jones , who plays the role of Betty Draper on Mad Men, graces the pages of W Magazine this May. And they should rename the mag WTF because her legs, seriously...what the f-ck?! It looks like the magazine had to print an 11x17 version just to fit them on the cover. In an interview with W, Jones opened up about her naïve-turned-realistic desire to become “rich and famous":
“I lived in an apartment near the Empire State Building. There were a billion girls in New York City who wanted to be models. After a while, I was immune to rejection, which helped when I went out to LA to become an actress.”
That immunity didn’t have to last for long. Jones says when she interviewed for a role in Mad Men, her character didn’t even really exist.
“There was no Betty in the pilot when I auditioned. I read for Peggy two times…at the end of the scene, there was a casual mention that Don was married. [Creator Matthew Weiner] went home that night and wrote two scenes that featured Betty. I auditioned a couple of days later, and he made me a verbal promise that the character would grow. I took the part on faith.”
And good thing she did, because the 'Mad Men' is now AMC’s most popular show, having recently been signed for a fifth and sixth season. Jones also plays Emma Frost in the upcoming X-Men movie, X-Men: First Class.
