January Jones is about to return to her role as Betty Draper in AMC’s ‘Mad Men’, and the actress is looking better than ever.
Maybe it has something to do with her “new mom” glow, as the actress gave birth to her first child, Xander Dane Jones, in September of last year.
Some of Jones’ pregnancy took place while filming the upcoming season.
“When we started I was eight months pregnant,” Jones told Hollyscoop at the ‘Mad Men’ Season 5 Premiere.
“It was difficult just to be working mom, and juggling all that, but everyone made it work. Matthew Weiner (show creator) was great about it, the show was great about it.”
Jones told us Xander has already reached a few milestones: “He turned six months yesterday!” she told Hollyscoop. “So he’s eating solids, and jabbering away, and rolling over. He’s becoming more of a little person. He’s quite a charmer!”
But becoming a mom didn’t help her relate to her character any better.
“If anything, I understand her even less. But in terms of mothering, I don’t carry anything ‘Betty’ home,” January told Hollyscoop.
And the hardest part about motherhood? “You just miss your child when you’re at work, but I think it’s really important to have something for yourself. It keeps you sane and it makes you a better parent,” she told Hollyscoop. “It makes you not take it for granted.”
January says that although she’s often busy working at a “job that I love,” she makes time for one guilty pleasure: “I watch a lot of reality TV!”
