Oscar writer Bruce Vilanch recently criticized James Franco’s hosting, and the actor put down his bong long enough to respond to it.
Vilanch said in an interview with New York Magazine, “I thought maybe it was a performance-art prank, and then I realized he sincerely wanted to do it. But it's outside of those guys' comfort zones.
"The only people who know how to host those shows are people who get up onstage every night and say, 'Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. A funny thing happened ... ' Or people like Bette [Midler] who get up and sing all night and tell stories."
Franco responded the way all celebrities do when they’re angry: by tweeted. Accompanied by a photo, Franco wrote, “Bruce, he let me down”.
The photo was one of Franco and Vilanch, along with the following written on it:
"James f-cked up the Oscars. Trust me, I know comedy. I mean, come on, I write for Bette Midler!"
This just goes to show, no matter how many years you spend writing comedy, a stoner will one up you every time.
