American actor James Franco was born on April 19, 1978 in Palo Alto, CA. He dropped out of UCLA in his freshman year to pursue an acting career. Franco was cast in the television series Freaks and Geeks. He starred in the film Whatever It Takes in 2000. The following year, Franco was cast in the TV biopic James Dean. He earned a Golden Globe for his performance.
Franco was a regular fixture in the Spiderman movies, playing Harry Osborn. Franco has appeared in several films in recent years. Most notably, he starred in the comedy Pineapple Express opposite Seth Rogen in 2008. Franco will appear in Gus Van Sant's Milk starring Sean Penn as Harvey Milk.
