Jade Goody Loses Her Battle with Cancer

British reality star Jade Goody passed away last night in her sleep. She was 27. Goody fought for her life for the last seven months after she was diagnosed with Cervical cancer. She passed away at 3:14 a.m. surrounded by her family at her home in Essex.

"She had been asleep the past 24 hours and it happened very peacefully," her publicist Max Clifford said in a statement. "Everyone is, of course, devastated, but we knew this was coming. I'm just glad people are remembering her as a brave girl who took on this battle with courage and gusto. She's inspired a lot of people."

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, "She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her and her family can be extremely proud of the work she has done to raise awareness of cervical cancer, which will benefit thousands of women across the UK."

Goody was known to be very loud, outspoken and very controversial as she rose to fame on the reality show Big Brother in 2002.

Jade recently married her boyfriend Jack Tweed and has two sons from a previous relationship.
