Jada Pinkett Smith’s show, HawthoRNE has been cancelled. I guess it just wasn’t getting enough of an audience. Maybe they should’ve tried throwing in some fist bumping or loud women fighting with each other. Or teenage moms. Because that seems to be what the public wants. And yes, by "the public", I am mostly talking about myself.
Pinkett-Smith broke the news on the social fan site, Whosay, on Friday:
“Hey everyone...if you don't know Hawthorne will not be returning for another season," the actress, 39, wrote. "I want to say thank you to all the fans for being Hawthorne soldiers...All our facebook fans...twitter soldiers and viewers...you held us down. Of course you know there is more to come...believe it!"
TNT confirmed the news to Access Hollywood:
"The series gave TNT the opportunity to work with many outstanding people, including Jada Pinkett Smith and the rest of the show's talented cast, crew, producers and writers. We wish everyone involved with 'HawthoRNe' nothing but the best."
For some of you reading, this is the first time you’ve even heard of this show. Basically, it’s about a doctor (Jada Pinkett) cheating on her husband with Marc Anthony.
Last week, after rumors surfaced that Jada and husband Will Smith’s marriage was in trouble, it was speculated that the actress was having a real-life affair with Anthony. A set source told Us Weekly that the two were “a little touchy and like they were in their own little world,” but added that a full-blown affair never happened, no pun intended.
The two have some pretty steamy onscreen love scenes, so that might have propelled the rumors. But Hollyscoop talked to Jada’s HawthoRNe costar, Michael Vartan, who said, despite how racy the scenes are, they’re “the most unromantic thing you could ever do.”
“There is the camera operator saying ‘now move your elbow so you can hide her nipple and kiss this way and move your hair out of her face’,” Michael told us.
A family source added that when Marc and Jennifer Lopez divorce, Jada “overstepped her bounds” by reaching out to Anthony.
“Jennifer didn’t like that.”
Marc Anthony spoke out about the rumors, calling them “laughable.”
“We were laughing like, ‘wow’. Because we’ve been friends for years,” Anthony said. Anthony says he was mostly bothered by “the effect it has on family. To Will and Jada, and their children, and their relatives and their loved ones.”
Anthony insists the reason for his split from J.Lo was simple and amicable.
“It was a realization on both our parts. So it wasn’t shocking. These things happen.”
After rumors of Jada’s split with Will, the couple released a joint statement saying their marriage was intact.
