Over two years ago in 2006 Washington came under fire for using an anti-gay slur towards his Grey’s Anatomy co-star T.R. Knight, which resulted in his firing from the show. But it appears Isaiah has made a turnaround, and is now among the many celebs lending their name to the opposition of Prop 8.
The NO H8 campaign was launched by photographer Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley, and several celebrities have gotten on board, such as Aubrey O'Day and Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz.
On the set of Isaiah’s shoot for the campaign, he said he’s been misunderstood ever since the Grey's Anatomy’s incident.
He said, “I am who I am. I’m here because it’s the right thing to do. And unfortunately because of all of the brouhaha, this is my answer to those who think I believe or support the way they think.”
He went on to say, “What has been purported about me has nothing to do with who I am.”
It sounds like Isaiah is really trying to change the way he’s perceived, and we fully support it! Check out ET’s behind-the-scenes coverage of Isaiah’s shoot for the NO H8 campaign.

After petitions started to float around the internet asking that his site be removed, his nomination for the Teen Choice Awards be recalled, and he banned from TV and radio stations, he decided it was time to swallow his pride and finally apologize for his vulgar comments.
"People make mistakes. I have made many in my life, but this past week I have made more than I can count on one hand," he said.
"I am sorry. And I mean it. No one is forcing me to write this. I am not feeling pressured to say this. I am speaking out because I realize that the last few days have been more hurtful to me - and many others - than the repeated blows I suffered to my head in Toronto this past weekend.
"Apologizing for me is not easy. Writing this was not easy. Life is not easy. But everything happens for a reason and I will take away a lot of valuable lessons from this experience."
He added that the "'F' word will never be uttered from my lips again. Just as others use the "N" word to insult and hurt - or as part of their everyday speech - I challenge them to remove it from their vocabulary as well."
"I am NOT apologizing to GLAAD. I could care less about them, my former employers. I am apologizing to the gay community, to anyone who was hurt by my choice of words, and to all the people who have ever emailed me to thank me for all that I have done to fight for gay rights over the last few years."
"I have reached out to Isaiah Washington, someone I incorrectly labeled a homophobe in the past, despite his own public statements that he was not."
Do you think Perez's apology is sincere? How do you think this situation will affect his career?

According to Radar Online, Washington is five months behind in his rental payments, totaling $100,000. Washington’s landlord has filed papers asking him to pay up in three days, or evacuate the premises.
Washington lives at the Venice Beach house with his wife Jenisa. The property is worth nearly three and a half million dollars and is $20,000 a month to rent. Washington’s original lease agreement, which started in April of 2008, included an option to buy.
The property management company is requesting: “past-due rent of $100,000, reasonable attorney fees, forfeiture of the agreement, damages at the rate stated in item 11 [$3,333 per day] for each day the defendants remain in possession through entry of judgment.”
We know Isaiah isn’t doing much work these days, but he’s got to have some money from Grey’s, right? It’s a scary time when actors, who make a hell of a lot more money that normal people, can’t even pay their rent!
