Don Cheadle is reportedly taking the place of Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2. In the movie, Howard played Jim Rhodes, Tony Stark/Iron Man's best friend and future hero War Machine. His big line in the movie is when he says, “Next Time.” Well that time has come, and Don Cheadle is replacing Howard in the role.
Sources close to deal say Howard fell through because of “financial differences.” In layman’s terms, that means he was probably too greedy and the film bosses tossed him out and handed the role over to Cheadle. He’s a better actor anyway! And he’s lucky, because the role of Rhodes is rumored to play a much bigger part in the sequel.
The rest of the cast and crew will remain the same.
Jon Favreau is returning as director, and Robert Downey Jr. is expected back as billionaire industrialist Stark/Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow also is expected to be back as Stark's assistant, Pepper Potts.
