Iron Man

Now that the world knows that billionaire industrialist Tony Stark is Iron Man, it's time to blow sh*t up in Iron Man 2! This action packed, sure-to-be blockbuster hit is in theaters today and according to Don Cheadle, "If you liked the first one, which most people did, then this is the bigger and badder version."

Robert Downey Jr. is joined by an all-star cast of heroes and villains, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson and Mickey Rourke as Whiplash.

Hollyscoop caught up with Gwyneth Paltrow at the premiere where she dished on her favorite scene in the movie. "I like the boxing ring scene when we first meet Natalie," she told Hollyscoop. And about that infamous kiss Gwyneth says there was "no awkwardness" and added that her famous hubby Chris Martin and Mrs. Downey Jr. were to watch it all go down.

Don Cheadle had some big shoes to fill for the sequel. He replaced Terrence Howard but according to Don, it was no sweat. "It was not unlike any other film, where you follow the script and do what the dictates of that are. I was never expected to copy a performance. I was very glad they gave me that latitude of making my own," Don told Hollyscoop.

Mickey Rourke, who has resurrected his career as of late, is just excited to be working with such a talented cast. "I worked mainly with Robert and Sam. It was a pleasurable experience," he told Hollyscoop, adding that he knows the sequel will "probably do very well" at the box office.

Scarlett Johansson is ready to sizzle on the big screen as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 this weekend, and we know men everywhere are counting the minutes!

Scarlett apparently made jaws drop on the set of the Jon Favreau-directed flick when she first appeared in her sexy latex get-up. And she’s ready to go for round two!

Johansson is apparently lobbying for her very own spin-off off the comic strip that would revolve around her character Russian spy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as the Black Widow.

She tells Access Hollywood, "These movies are very fan driven so if the fans like my interpretation of the character, I would be happy to don the cat suit again and, you know, carry the torch. But there is no plan for anything like that. I know that Marvel is very behind this character so I'm keeping my fingers crossed."

We’d say the chances are pretty good! Anyone would pay money to see Scarlett strut around in that costume for two hours.

As morbid as it is, it’s pretty cool to see performances in movies from people who have passed away. It’s a nice way to see the person’s work live on even after death.

Heath Ledger was celebrated in his final rose before his passing in The Imaginarum of Doctor Parnassus, and now DJ AM is getting the same treatment.

Iron Man 2 to be Shown in IMAX

The late celebrity DJ is featured in the upcoming Iron Man, which comes out in theaters May 7th. He filmed the scene in the film just two months before he overdosed and died at his NYC apartment. At first, director Jon Favreau wasn’t sure about keeping the cameo in the final cut.

He told the LA Times, “We tried to make it respectful, and for people who know him, they’ll get a kick out of it and for people who don’t, it will sort of slide by without much notice.”

Favreau even went a step further, buy dedicating Iron Man 2 to the memory of DJ AM. Such a cool thing to do!
IMAX is hot right now! It worked for Avatar, which is still the number one movie at the box office for 4 weeks running, and now Iron Man 2 will be released in IMAX theaters.

A press release came out today confirming the plans for the sequel, which will come out on May 7th. While the movie has not been shot using IMAX cameras, the film will be converted for IMAX screens.

Marvel Studios’ COO Tim Connors said: “The success of the first Iron Man movie catapulted the franchise from the comic books to theatre screens, and we’re excited that the IMAX format will offer fans an even more immersive way to experience the sequel.”

2008’s Iron Man grossed over $318 million domestically. Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark, who will battle the evil villain Ivan Vanko, played by Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke. Gwyneth Paltrow, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson are also in the sequel.
The highly-anticipated trailer for Iron Man 2 is finally here! Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is back to his old tricks, saving the world one day at a time. But he’ll have to overcome his new evil nemesis Whiplash, played by the great Mickey Rourke.

Scarlett Johansson rounds out the cast as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow, an undercover spy posing as Stark's assistant. And as Hollyscoop previously reported, Don Cheadlereplaces Terrence Howard in the sequel, taking on the role of Lt. Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes / War Machine.

Iron Man 2 looks bigger and better than the first one! We’ll barely be able to wait until May 7th when it’s released in theaters!

Spider Man and Mickey Mouse are now family! Disney has just purchased Marvel Comics for $4 billion in cash and stock. Under the deal, Disney will acquire 5000 Marvel characters, like Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the Fantastic Four. Many of them were created by comic book legend Stan Lee.

Disney said Marvel shareholders will receive $30 per share in cash, plus 0.745 Disney shares for every Marvel share they own. That values each Marvel share at $50 based on Friday's closing stock prices.

Marvel shares jumped $10.17, or 26 percent, to $48.82 shortly after the market opened. Disney shares fell 47 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $26.37.

The last big acquisition Disney made was in 2006 when they bought Pixar for over $7 billion.

Disney CEO Robert Iger says the latest acquisition combines Marvel's "strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters" with Disney's "unparalleled global portfolio of entertainment properties" and ability to maximize value across multiple platforms and territories.

Does this mean comic book movies are about to get a whole lot more family oriented? We sure hope not! We like our comic book bad guys just the way they are!

It’s the clash of the leading ladies! Apparently things aren’t going too smoothly on the set of Iron Man 2 between the two female leads, Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson.

Gwyneth seems to think Scarlett is particularly demanding of the crew, and has taken a two-week break from filming. According to The Sun, Gwyneth was looking forward to working with Emily Blunt, who originally cast in the role of the Black Widow.

A source says, “Gwyneth and Scarlett have never been particularly close. Gwyneth was looking forward to working with Emily Blunt, who was originally in line for the part, but it ended up being Scarlett.

"Gwyneth’s had to live with that and she has been very professional, but she and Scarlett haven’t developed a friendship on the shoot, which is almost at the halfway point. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.”

Some speculate that Gwyneth is jealous that Scarlett gets to wear sexy cat suits on set every day, while she’s stuck wearing the prim and proper suits for her role as Pepper Potts.

But Gwyneth will be returning to the set for the big fight scene between Robert Downey Jr’s character and Mickey Rourke, who is playing Whiplash.

The source adds, “The most spectacular sequence in the movie is a huge fight between Robert and Mickey Rourke, and she is going to be right in the thick of things. That section of the movie is going to be three straight weeks of filming in June.

"It is by far the most expensive sequence, the centerpiece of the whole project. Gwyneth’s break has come at a perfect time. She can recharge her batteries before returning for her chance to show who is boss.”

Sounds pretty diva-licious on that set! We’d be jealous of Scarlett too, Gwyneth!

The cast and crew on the set of Iron Man 2 are lucky enough to a part of one of the biggest movie franchises in history, but now we have another reason to be jealous.

Scarlett Johansson started shooting her scenes recently as The Black Widow and reportedly silenced everyone present.

Director Jon Favreuau took to his Twitter to explain to the scene today on the set of the film. He said, "Scarlett's first day on set in the Black Widow outfit. You've never heard a crew get so quiet so fast."

We can only imagine! That outfit is tighter than Sienna Miller's in G.I. Joe! And Scarlett couldn't be more perfect for the role. She even looks like the comic version. And as you may recall, Scarlett was the second choice for the role. Emily Blunt was originally intended to play the part, but pulled out because of scheduling conflicts. Bet she's kicking herself now!

As Hollyscoop reported previously, Don Cheadle has replaced Terrence Howard in the role of Lt. Col. James Rhodes for the sequel to Iron Man . We’d heard the firing was over Howard’s paycheck, with Marvel citing “financial differences” with the actor.

But just because months have passed and filming is underway, doesn’t mean Howard has forgotten it all.

In a new interview with Parade magazine, Terrence tells them, "Marvel made a choice, and it was a very, very bad choice. They didn't keep their word. They didn't honor my contract. They produced a great bounty with the first one but they put it all in the storehouse and you were not allowed in. They did the same thing with Gwyneth Paltrow, from what I've been told. They did it with almost everyone except Robert Downey. One of the things that actors need to learn to do is always stick together, one for all and all for one."

Even though he’s not attached anymore, Howard has already read the script for Iron Man 2 . But don’t worry, he’s not bitter enough to back at Marvel bosses by revealing any plot lines. He tells Parade , "I've seen the script, I know what's going to happen, but I'm not revealing anything. I believe in karma. When someone does something wrong, you don't have to get them back. Everything right will return the favor for you.”

Believe it or not, Terrence actually sounds excited to see Iron Man 2. He says, “I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the movie. I want to see Don Cheadle become me. No, I want him to do better than me. That's what I really want to see. Don Cheadle was the reason I got Crash , so I have a lot of love for him."

It sounds like Terrence only has beef with Marvel , and not the rest of the cast. That’s what happens when studios don’t take care of their actors! We guess Gwyneth Paltrow stuck around because she figured she had so much money already, that what’s another couple million? But for Terrence Howard, it seems like the struggle was less about the actual paycheck than the whole principle of it all.

The rumors turned out to be true! It actor of the moment Mickey Rourke is joining the cast of Iron Man 2. He is on fire right now! Apparently the big hold-up was about Mickey’s pay demands. He was reportedly initially offered $250,000 for the role of Russian villain Whiplash. Guess that wasn’t enough for an Oscar contender!

According to Variety, studio bosses have reportedly upped Mickey’s paycheck significantly, and he agreed. Rourke joins the all-star cast of Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson for the sequel.

Mickey’s character will be based on two comic-book villains – Whiplash, who flies around on a board and uses a whip, and a Russian villain named Crimson Dynamo. Rourke has been developing the character with director Jon Favreau, who also returns to the franchise.

In addition to Mickey, Scarlett Johansson is finally confirmed to join the cast as well.

Her rep Marcel Pariseau says, "Scarlett is thrilled to be a part of Iron Man.” She’ll be playing the role of Black Widow. The deal was reportedly signed today.

This sequel is going to be HUGE. The first movie made $572 million across the world, and the sequel is expected to surpass it.
