Does Starbucks Make You Fat?



This story may not relate to most stories we usually write about, but since I am such a big coffee drinker, I felt compelled to share this interesting fact. I am addicted to Starbucks and I can’t imagine life without it. But as I read these reports, I realized why I can’t seem to get rid of my cottage cheese thighs. No matter how much I work out or implement Atkins in my diet, it is never enough and now I think I have an idea why.

Did you know that a 20-ounce Venti banana mocha frappuccino with whipped cream contains 720 calories and 11 grams of saturated fat? Every time you add whip cream to your coffee you are adding 150 calories. Basically a frappuchino has more calories than a McDonald's Corp. Big Mac which has 560 calories and 11 grams of saturated fat.

Now, I am not one to sit here and count calories, but it caught my attention, since there will be days where I will make a pit stop to Starbucks more than once a day. I call it the "Starbucks Epidemic" and I can’t get rid of it. Damn I knew it was too good to be true!!! Since there were no labels I never ever thought twice about how many calories a coffee has.

Things may be changing since Starbucks Corp. may be next on the target list of a consumer-health group that this week sued the operator of the KFC fried chicken restaurant chain for frying foods in oils high in harmful trans fat. To read more about this issue Click Here.

No matter what the case is, I think I am too deep into this relationship with Starbucks. I guess from now on I am going to stick to non fat lattes with NO whip cream.
