For a while now, rumors have swirled around Hollywood regarding Hugh Jackman's sexuality. Because you do one Broadway show, and suddenly, the whole world thinks you're gay.
Jackman's longtime wife, Deborra-Lee Furness is speaking out about the speculation around her husband being a homosexual. Furness
says, "I don’t pay much heed to gossip."
She added that "The line I heard was, 'Wolverine? Who would've thought?' Hugh and I don't pay much heed [to that]."
Furness says she also feels sorry for people so wrapped up in her husband's personal life.
"It's kind of tragic that these people have nothing better to do than to gossip about people they don’t know."
Hey lady, I have plenty of better things to do! There's uh…organizing my Tupperware and, uh…feeding my cat...
Furness and Jackman married in 1996 and have to adopted children together: Oscar, 11 and Ava, 6.
And Hollywood gossip isn't the only battle Furness has with her husband in the limelight. She also has to deal with Hugophiles—the self-imposed name of Jackman's crazed fans. It's like Bieber fever, but, you know. Older.
"Literally, they will push you out of the way," Deborra told the New York Post's Page Six Magazine. "Hugh is much more mature than me, so we balance each other out."
Jackman won a Tony Award in 2004 for his role in The Boy From Oz, a hit Broadway show. He currently stars in the one man show, Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway. I wonder what it's about.
"I sometimes pinch myself that I'm getting the chance -- it's like ultimate karaoke," Jackman said of his Broadway career.
After a couple of weeks of performing at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York, Jackman broke the house record for amount of money made. And if that's not enough, the show is sold out every weekend during its ten-week run.
Oh, and if you ever need to lose weight, being in a Broadway show is a good way to do it. Jackman is reportedly losing a few pounds a night:
"We started a week ago," Jackman said. "They've already taken my pants in three times."
I wasn't sure Hugh Jackman would ever be able to top Wolverine, but he has.
And Hugh hasn't given up on his film career, either. His latest flick, Butter, is set to be released March 2012. The film also stars Jennifer Garner, Ashley Greene, Alicia Silverstone, Ty Burrell and Olivia Wilde.
