Would you believe that
Howard Stern was so popular back in 1995 that he even had a major rest stop named after him?
Believe it or not, there is an actual bonafide "Howard Stern Rest Stop" along I-295 in New Jersey. Apparently, former Governor Christine Whitman was such a huge fan at the time that she named the location after him.
However, the area became a haven for people cruising for sex, and was locked last year. Now the entire spot is closed off and blocked by railings.
"Unfortunately, it's a sign of the economic times. The cost of maintaining it was too much," a Jersey Transportation Department rep told Page Six. Does this mean Howard's popularity level has dropped too? We certainly hope not.
