Marilyn Monroe's Ghost Haunts The Roosevelt Hotel?

October 30, 2008

Are you in the mood to see some ghosts? If so, how about Marilyn Monroe’s? Rumor has it, that the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is haunted by her ghost.

The hotel, which opened in 1927, was a playground for Hollywood royalty such as Greta Garbo, Will Rogers and Clara Bow and Marilyn Monroe among others. The hotel has been an iconic landmark and recently underwent a renovation, which is when the sightings reportedly started.

Most sightings have occurred by a mirror, which was once hung in suite 1200 of the hotel, a suite that was frequently used by Marilyn Monroe. Many have spotted a blonde women’s refection in the mirror that resembles Monroe.

The “haunted” mirror is still hanging on the wall at the Roosevelt and can now be found in the lower level elevator landing. It is said that some visitors still catch a glimpse of a beautiful blond.

Another guest that hasn’t checked out is Actor Montgomery Clift. Rumor has it his ghosts still haunts Room 928. The actor had lived in the room for three months in 1952 while filming From Here to Eternity. Clift was said to restlessly pace his room and the corridor outside, rehearsing his lines and practicing the bugle. And some say that he still does. According to reports some refuse to work on the ninth floor where the room is located, as they have seen strange shadows.

If you're in the mood for ghost busting, check out the Roosevelt hotel!
