The rumors are true. The couple is over…
After going strong for five years, longtime couple Hilary Swank and John Campisi have called it quits. The couple broke up a few months ago.
People magazine broke the news, but Hollyscoop confirmed the report with Hilary’s rep.
“Yes it’s true,” the rep said.
According to the source, Hilary and John broke up in May putting a sad cap on their long term relationship.
The couple had started dating in December of 2006. John was Hilary’s agent and, since they got along so well on the business level, they decided to give romance a try, which seemed to work for a while. In public, a sourness in their relationship was all but absent as they appeared arm-in-arm on the carpet, each with beaming smiles.
Though they never quite made it to marriage themselves, Hilary was previously married to actor Chad Lowe, whom she met in 1992 on the set of Quiet Days in Hollywood. In April of 2007, she opened up about what caused them to hit the eject button on the marriage.
“I just think it's rare to find that person who isn't threatened by it or doesn't feel less because of it,” she said in the interview. “When they are threatened by it, that just kills a part of you.”
At the time, Hilary looked forward to her new relationship with John.
The actress has spent a good part of the summer working, split between Wilmington, N.C. and South Africa as she filmed for a TV movie called Mary & Martha alongside Brenda Blethyn and James Woods. Directed by Phillip Noyce, the film focuses its story around two mothers who lose their sons to malaria.
