Hilary Duff’s hockey-playing husband had one too many injuries and is officially retiring from the sport, just in time to be a stay at home dad. A job that is seriously underrated.
The Canadian athlete has had a recurring hip injury, and it’s only getting worse, limiting him to just 127 games in the last three seasons. Duff Tweeted to fans:
"As many of u know mike has announced his retirement. Its a bittersweet day! He had a wonderful career! but 3 hip surgeries in 5 years is alot!"
Hate to break it to you, Duff, but it’s going to be nothing compared to childbirth. Okay, I won't pretend like I have any idea what childbirth is like. But I heard it kinda hurts.
Hilary is due to give birth to the couple’s first child in the coming weeks, and as previously reported...It’s a boy! The two married back in 2010. Hollyscoop asked Duff how she would feel about her son following in his father’s footsteps.
“I would support him no matter what,” Hilary told Hollyscoop. But then, she recalls dealing with Mike’s injuries: “When I first started seeing Mike, he would come home with five stitches on his face, and he would get in a right, and I would be like, ‘oh my god, what is all this about?’” Duff told us: “The idea of that happening to my baby—I am like, ‘no hockey.’”
Hilary says that she’s had a pretty smooth pregnancy:
“I’ve been really luckily throughout my pregnancy to just not have any issues and any problems it’s been really mellow, and hopefully it stays that way,” she told us.
