And now Helio can look forward to even more good news: he’s going to be a father! The 34-year old race car driver and his girlfriend Adriana Henao are expecting their first child – a girl – in January.
Helio announced the news today at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where the Firestone Indy 300 took place. He said, "We thought about calling her 'Indy,' but we thought that might be a little too much.”
He did say, however, that the baby’s name will be Mikaella. He says he plans on marrying Adriana after the baby is born, as it’s “the next natural step.”
Helio also said, "This year started very difficult, the middle was kind of a 'Wow!' and now this. This is a great ending for the book.''
Congrats to Helio and Adriana!

As you may know, Helio, his sister, and his lawyer were all accused of tax evasion, and Helio was facing six years in prison. But just last month, he was acquitted, which made him eligible to get back to what he does best…racing cars!
And Helio must be feeling pretty good about himself right now, because he just won the Indianapolis 500! This is the third time in Helio’s career that he’s won Indy.
He told reporters in Victory Lane, “This is the best month of my life. Thank you for giving my life back.”
With Helio’s win, he’s just one away from tying the record of winning the race four times. Congrats to Helio! What a difference one month can make!

Helio, who is also known as the 2007 champ on Dancing With The Stars, was on trial on tax evasion charges.
He, his sister who is his business manager, and his lawyer were all accused of conspiring to evade $2.3 million in taxes over a five-year period, and were facing up to six years in prison.
But after deliberating for just six days, the jury reached their verdict, and he’s innocent! Helio’s sister Katiucia and his lawyer Alan Miller were acquitted as well.
Outside of court, Helio, speaking in his native Portugese, told reporters, "I just want to thank God, and my fans, and all of the people who prayed for me.”
Holding a rosary, he added, "It has been a very difficult place to be in.” He said he planned to leave Friday night for Los Angeles. It’s party time now! Crack the champagne!

He did plead 'not guilty' and the judge set him free on $10 million bail. Now Helio is asking the court to delay his trial from March to November of 2009.
Why? He doesn't want to risk being tangled up in a legal battle during the 2009 IndyCar series, which runs from April to October. In court documents, his lawyer claims that "a presumed innocent defendant should not face the prospect of losing his career based solely on the return of an indictment."
Guilty or innocent, Helio should realize that when you make your bed, you eventually have to sleep in it.

He was brought into his arraignment in cuffs and shackles and cried throughout the hearing in a Miami court Friday afternoon. He was forced to give up his passport, and cannot travel anywhere in the United States. That's when ya know you're in trouble! But Helio is still allowed to participate in a race this Sunday, so at least he has that to look forward to.
Before his court appearance Friday, one of Castronoves' attorneys, David Garvin, told the Associated Press his client "did not do anything wrong. We're looking forward to going to court. Helio has always done the appropriate thing and hired accountants and attorneys he relied upon."
He was ordered released on $10 million bail. That's the one thing you can't mess with! The tax man!

The two-time Indianapolis 500 champ will be in Miami on Friday to answer charges of federal tax evasion. He, along with his sister Kati, and attorney Allan Miller, have been indicted for concealing more than $5 million in wages over a four year time.
They allegedly took that company and siphoned it into a Panama-based shell company from 1999 to 2004. If he's convicted, Helio could face a maximum penalty of 35 years in prison. Just goes to show you, no one ever gets away with it!

Who would have known a race car driver would beat a Spice girl on the dance floor? Helio Castroneves took home the “Dancing With the Stars” trophy on Tuesdsy night beating front runner Melanie Brown.
"It will look so good between my two Indy 500 trophies," Castroneves said after his win. This comes as a big shock to us, we really believed Melanie would win, since she’s got girl power and was far more polished as far as her performances go. Even Castroneves was shocked that he won as he revealed after the show,"I was not expecting it. Mel, she's an incredible dancer."
The highlight of the night was seeing attention lover Marie Osmond get the boot. She may be going through a tough time in her personal life but home-girl needs to realize she’s not 16.
