Heath Ledger's Restaurant About To Open

Heath Ledger
Before his death, Heath Ledger wanted to open up a restaurant/bar in Brooklyn. His partner and longtime friend Jud Mongell says Heath was really hands-on in getting the doors open.

He says, "He drew the floor plans and thought of the name — BrightSide — because it's on the bright side of McCarren Park."

The space has a nautical theme, and is scheduled to open by the end of the summer. As expected, it will include a lot of personal touches from Heath, like a chessboard being engraved into the tables because he loved the game.

Jud says, "Heath was a big chess player. The whole idea was to make it a spot for us. We wanted to make it our own space to hang out. He specifically talked about having a place for him and his family to sit. It was great working with Heath. He was the most unassuming guy."

BrightSide sounds like a great place and such a nice dedication to the late Heath Ledger. Make sure to stop by if you're in the area!

To Jud and Mr Kim Ledger and his beautiful family, Thankyou so much for following through with a vision & dream Heath had,Not surprising at all he had his family and friends in mind when he was creating it. I love that it will have a nautical ambiance to it seeing he loved the ocean so much especially our beautiful Aussie beaches.I would like to suggest that you have a registry i,e book for people to write in as they visit and also if there are tips given that they be collected to help support the abolishment of whaling which Heath was passionate about.Once again thankyou for seeing this project through. I can only imagine how hard is has been for you all without him being here, I hope to have a drink there one day and take a walk in the park... Kindest Regards Robynne Melbourne OZ

Thank you to all who helped continue this idea. It is such a wonderful feeling to know that there is a place to go that was thought of by Heath. A little way for people to rememeber this sweet man. I cannot wait to go there. I absolutly still feel the unwaivering pain of losing such a brilliant. yet vunerable man. He has touched so many peoples hearts. I am inamired by the thought of Heath. He has crept into my mind and wont go. I think of him most days. His sweet daughter too.
