The house has been known as "the tree house" because of how it's situated in the Hollywood Hills and surrounded by trees on all sides. Unlike most celebs who feel the need to have 10 bedroom homes with swirling staircases and firemen poles, Heath and Michelle lived "modestly" in the 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home built in 1951.
The couple bought the home from Ellen DeGeneres in 2005 for $2.1 mil, but after Ledger and Williams split and his unfortunate death in 2008, the house was sold for $2.5 million.
It seems like celebs pass down houses to each other. Nick Lachey's old home belonged to Seal and Heidi Klum before him. Katy Perry's mansion was formerly used on the show, "The Bachelor." Christina Aguilera bought the famous home that belonged to the Osborne’s when they were featured on their reality TV show.
Anyways, the former Ledger home featured an outdoor movie lounge with a projector screen, an outdoor dining area surrounded by sycamore trees and an outdoor living room area. Okay, so the home is basically a large patio with a two-bedroom home attached. No wonder they call it the tree house.
The home is also situated on a green expanse of nearly half an acre of land. The current owner apparently didn't like the place that much after he bought it in 2008, he fixed it up and then put it back on the market for $3.695 with no bites. Now it's back on the market and the owner is trying to lure in buyers by saying the house has a "succession of famous owners." Kind of tacky, especially since Heath has passed away.
Williams and Ledger lived in the house together when they were together in 2004 until 2007 and the couple starred in "Brokeback Mountain" together. Now Williams is playing Marilyn Monroe in the biopic film, "My Week With Marilyn," but says she fantasizes about quitting acting.
"I often dream of quitting acting. Walking away and becoming a laundress or a sous chef or maybe writing other people's love letters for a living. Clearly, I don't like to be in charge," says the actress.
I don't think a laundress could afford a Hollywood Hills tree-house home, just saying. Might not wanna quit acting just yet.
