Having just won a Golden Globe Award for his performance in 'The Dark Knight' the late Heath Ledger was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor this morning on the one year anniversary of his death.

The Dark Knight star is up for Best Supporting Actor, alongside Josh Brolin (Milk), Robert Downey Jr. (Tropic Thunder); Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt) and Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road).

The Dark Knight scored a total of 8 nominations including Art direction, Cinematography, Makeup and Film Editing.

Earlier this month, director Chris Nolan accepted a Golden Globe trophy on his behalf, and his family said it would eventually go to his daughter Matilda.

Who will accept the Oscar on his behalf if he wins? We'll have to wait and see, but most likely it will be Nolan again.

Do you think Heath will win the Oscar? If so, who do you think should accept his award on his behalf?

The Ledger Family with Michelle and Trevor, the people that loved and were loved by Heath the most should accept the oscar. This would be a wonderful gift to Matilda, and a personal honor to Heath. She should know how much her dad was loved. Then the Ledgers could request that the media continue to support Michelle in her work, but give Matilda and Michelle some space to move on.

It is so eerie that the Nom came a Year to the Day of his Death...must be a sign from God that he Will Win.

I think he will win only because he is dead and either his ex wife who takes care of his daughter or his daughter should pick up the oscer on stage

Not to negate his talent-I do ot believe he should win. he did a great performance in a role that was so over-the-top it is easy to do. All of the others on the list had the much mroe difficult job of acting subtle and still getting the point across. heath should have won for Brokeback Mountain
