ET and the Insider reportedly paid $200,000 for footage of Heath Ledger allegedly snorting cocaine at the Chateau Marmont over three years ago. The footage was shot with a hidden camera during a private party following the 2006 SAG awards.
The suits at ET decided to pull the plug on the expose because they were getting a lot of heat from viewers, fans and the media in general. There goes $200K!
The interesting thing is that throughout the entire video you don't see Heath actually doing any sort of drugs but you can hear him saying, "I'm gonna get so much shit from my girlfriend. We have a baby together Matilda, Matilda Rose." The other two gentlemen in the room were the ones actually snorting the cocaine. Michelle Williams and Matilda were also staying at the Chateau, but were in a different room at the time.
Ledger also talks of his past drug use, saying, "I used to smoke five joints a day for 20 years."
They released this statement on the gossip show's website's Thursday:
"Out of respect for HEATH LEDGER's family, "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider" have decided not to run the Heath Ledger video which has been circulating in the world media.".
We're sticking to our word on this one and will not be posting the video. Let the man rest in peace!
Meanwhile, Access Hollywood's Billy Bush has released a GREAT statement about ET host Mary Hart and the show itself for attempting to air the footage.
