Heath Ledger Death Accidental

Heath Ledger's family rep contacted TMZ.com to clear up reports over an alleged suicide. Heath allegedly overdosed on sleeping pills and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. Heath was sick with pneumonia when he died today.

Ledger just wrapped up the next Batman film, "The Dark Knight." Alan Horn, President of Warner Bros. and Jeff Robinov, President, Warner Bros. Pictures Group have issued the following statement:

"The studio is stunned and devastated by this tragic news. The entertainment community has lost an enormous talent. Heath was a brilliant actor and an exceptional person. Our hearts go out to his family and friends."

It's obviously a tragic day for the family, he was such a talented actor that it's a shame his life was cut so short.

What a loss! I am saddened for his family and friends. He was truly a gifted young actor just beginning to shine his talent.

It is hard to tell if you have pnuemonia because it can seem like a bad cold or somewhat flu-like. Especially men it seems may not go to doctor's, and even women may not go to doctor's, because people think they will get over it or do not even know they have pnumonia. Especially if he wasn't sleeping, he wasn't thinking 100% right. People say he was not a drug addict and he doesn't look it. I believe it is all just a TRAGEDY..let him rest in peace.

This is really sad. The pneuomonia coupled with sleep and pain meds could have indeed supressed his respiration resulting in death. It never ceases to amaze me how cavalier and cruel some people can be! Already minimizing his family's feelings as well as his pneumonia. His death is tragic. For his loved ones to cling to the hope it was not deliberate makes perfect sense at this juncture. The man has been dead for less than 24 hours. For the negative swipers, I hope you receive more benevolent gestures should tragedy ever befall you.

I only heard about this this morning when my friends were talking about it - I totally thought they were kidding me - I just couldn't believe that someone so young and talented could die. It's just so sad. *Hugs* to his friends and family. And can you people who are saying it was suicide shut up? Haven't you ever heard the saying 'speak nothing but good of the dead' - why can't you just see that maybe he did die of a combo of sleeping pills and anti-pneumonia pills. And try to understand that when the media say that he was taking 'drugs' it means medical drugs. It's not like he was on heroin or anything.

The pneumonia could have played a big part into the death though. If he had taken some over the counter sleeping pills and maybe some cold or decongestant tablets with having pneumonia it could have killed him. Pneumonia kills alot of people. Better to wait for the autopsy results before jumping to conclusions. So sad no matter how he died.

I read the sleeping pill Ambien was taken with OTC sleeping aids as well. He had a problem with the Ambien because he would not sleep right, then pop a couple more in order to get back to sleep. I can believe this because a few years ago, a doctor prescribed Ambien for my 16 year old daughter. She did not think they were working so she kept taking them...thankfully I caught it before they had such a severe effect on her and flushed them down the toilet. (She had apparently taken 3 pills in the course of an hour.)This medication seems to be highly addictive, perhaps it really should be pulled off the market.

I couldnt belive it . . . this is so devestating . . . what a waste of life - Heath was a brilliant actor and it is such a shame to see him leave the world at only 28 . . . my heartfelt wishes go out to his family and close friends.

I am not saying it was necessaruly suicide, but of course his family is saying it wasn't. They're understandably devastated and no family wants to admit their loved one would choose to die.
