Depp, Farrell and Law Donate Paychecks To Matilda Ledger

Heath Ledger
Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell , and Jude Law all took over for the role Heath Ledger started to play in his last movie before his death, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. The three all play different versions of the character in the fantasy-like film.

Because Heath left all of his money to his father at the time of his death, Johnny, Colin, and Jude wanted to make sure Matilda wasn't being left out, so they've all donated their paychecks from the film to her.

Director Terry Gilliam says of his leading men,"The three actors were totally heroic coming in. This doesn't happen very often . . . where there's a tragedy like this, and very famous, very successful actors suddenly say, 'Okay, we'll do whatever it takes to help.' They came; they did the work; they allowed the movie to be finished; they didn't take money–the money goes to Heath's daughter. That's extraordinary! And wonderful . . . and when you're part of that, you think, 'Ah, this is maybe why I went into the movies, in the beginning. I thought it would be full of wonderful people.' And in our case, we've got a movie full of wonderful people, who did extraordinary things to help."

Wow that just brought tears to our eyes. Bravo!

I'm sure Heath is smiling down. Now that's generous and kind! All of them are family men or atleast have children, they obviously get it.

As nice and thoughtful as this is, has it actually been confirmed? If it has, I think it is one of the most generous things I ever seen. I love Johnny Depp. He's my absolute favorite actor.......Heath was always a very close second. It made me so happy when I heard that he was one of the actors that stepped in to help complete to movie so that Heath's full performance could be used. If this story is true, I have to agree with the writer of this article......Bravo, guys. This shows true character!

When I start to think that there is more bad things in this world, I'll remember this story of three special men who made sure a little girl received a special gift in behalf of her father. God bless Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law.

How is this good? The child doesnt want for anything and lives in a $3.6 million home. Maybe if they had donated money to the thousands of children who are starving, without healthcare, or in need of crime prevention/intervention I would be happy about their "gifts". The rich feed the rich.

What a beautiful gesture by those three men. Quite a revealing show of character in such a profits-oriented business. Why on earth should they be criticized for it? I don't know about the other two, but Johnny Depp has done quite a few things for children in need. In any case, do actors donate their entire paychecks for a film to fatherless children on such a routinely basis that there should be a standard by which to measure which children actually deserve it? Charity shouldn't be a calculation. This was a gesture from the heart, not the head. If that isn't a "good gift", I don't know what is.
