Sarah Michelle Gellar got her roots on television, playing Buffy the Vampire Slayer for years. And now she’s heading back to small screen with a new role. But rather than kicking butt and taking names, she’ll be playing a normal young woman in the show The Wonderful Maladys.

This is no campy WB show either. It’ll be on HBO, which is so exciting, because after the finales of both Sopranos and Six Feet Under, we’ve been dying for a new series! And this one sounds pretty promising.

The show centers around three adult siblings who lead rather dysfunctional lives after their parents die when they’re very young. Not exactly uplifting material, but that’s what HBO is known for!

Nate Corddry, who currently is in United States of Tara, and Molly Parker from the HBO show Deadwood have also been cast. The show is in pre-production, and will reportedly air next Fall.

Just last week, Hollyscoop heard news out of Oprah’s camp that she intends on riding out her contract with ABC to keep her talk show up and running. But now Bossip is reporting that she’s just signed a three-year deal with HBO to develop and produce scripted programming.

The deal will include Oprah-influenced series, miniseries, movies, and documentaries to HBO, and will go into effect in 2009. There’s no word on whether Oprah plans on appearing in any of the projects, but we all know she’s no stranger to the cameras.

Harpo, Oprah’s production company, couldn’t be happier about the deal. Harpo Films president Kate Forte says, "ABC was always incredibly supportive of us, it is much more about the opportunity HBO affords us. There are natural limitations to network television...which obviously HBO does not have to deal with." Oprah also commented on the news, saying, “This is the perfect partnership for Harpo Films.”

We want to know just what Oprah has up her sleeve! The premium cable network doesn't usually make such individual deals with production companies, but network co-president Richard Plepler said that "Oprah personifies excellence and quality in everything she does." She’s a TV god, so anything she does will turn to gold. HBO knows exactly what they’re doing. We’ll have to wait and see what’s in store!

Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis is getting his own life story made into a TV show. HBO has decided to turn his early life in Hollywood into a series. Hey, it worked for Mark Wahlberg and Entourage!

The idea was spawned by Anthony’s 2004 autobiography called Scar Tissue. Back in the day, Kiedis’ father was a drug dealer to the stars.

Kiedis says of his relationship with his dad Spider, "He introduced me to the arts, to a more culturally magnificent life. But some of it was this quite heavy, adult matter that I wasn’t capable of digesting."

One of those examples is having lost his virginity at the age of 12 to his father’s girlfriend. Talk about dysfunctional! Kiedis hopes the TV project will help him bond with his father. He tells Daily Variety, "I love mulling over all this raw material. Dad’s into it too. He sees it as our last great hurrah. For us to be reconnecting to construct these memories is exciting."

Kiedis is considering narrating the show, and may make regular cameo appearances. Were totally in! It sounds like a great premise for a show!
Good news, Larry David fans! Despite previous reports that its been canceled, Curb Your Enthusiasm is coming back for another season. HBO Michael Lombardo previously hinted at producing a seventh season but there hasn't been any production update about show until now. According to Variety, the show is going to start production in December.

Last season, Cheryl separated from husband Larry, who seems to have moved on by forging a relationship with Loretta Black (Vivica A. Fox). Whether that was just a dream sequence, fans will have to wait and see when the HBO series returns with new episodes in 2009.

Jessica Simpson is really immersing herself in all things Tony, country, and now football. She got a lot of bad press during last year's season when she'd show up to Cowboys games, and they'd end up losing. But that's not keeping Jess from supporting her man. She'll be appearing in one episode of Hard Knocks, which is a TV series by NFL Films and HBO that shows teams preparing for the upcoming season at training camp.

And according to HBO exec Ross Greenburg insists it won't be all about Jess and Tony. He says, "I'm telling you, we are going to attack this Hard Knocks the same way we have attacked all of the other Hard Knocks. We're not going to make this an E! half-hour entertainment show on Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson."

Want more Kanye? HBO is hoping to bring him to you!

The network is currently in talks to air an "unscripted" series on the life of Kanye.

According to EW, HBO has been pushing this show for a while, even before the writers' strike last year.

The show would follow Kanye through his crazy life, and show his relationship with his family and friends.

Now the network says the only thing that's standing in the way is finding the perfect writer for the show. Hey, we thought they said UNscripted?!!
