Just last month, Hollyscoop reported that the two had broken up, or as they put, "were taking a break."
But just weeks later, it appears the split is permanent. "Yes, the engagement is off," Bilson's rep explained, but didn't offer up any further details on the breakup.
Sources say however that distance was reportedly one of the main reasons for the split. With Bilson primarily in L.A., and Christensen in Canada, "It just wasn't working out," says a friend of the actress.
Now Bilson is "focusing on her career, spending time with her family and just moving forward," adds the friend.
As for Christensen, he was most recently spotted with actress Sophie Monk. The two were seen leaving LA hotspot Boulevard 3 after the Takers premiere last week.
We hate to say it, but it's a little bit of a downgrade!

The two are rumored to be “on a break,” which more or less means they’ve either split up, or are headed in that direction.
Sources tell Us Magazine that the couple, who got engaged in February of 2009, are definitely “on a break.”
Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen Build Their Dream Home
Something seemed a little fishy when a solo Rachel showed up to the Take No Prisoners event in LA this week and said, "No, no plans," when asked when her wedding was, and pointed to her ring-less finger. "No nothing."
Rachel Bilson Engaged
Sources close to the couple say they’re "taking about a month off" and will revisit their relationship then to decide if they should stay together. They decided to split apart about two weeks ago.
Sad! We really like these two together! But hopefully the time and space will make their hearts grow fonder!

Rachel’s mom was the one who discovered the place had been ransacked when she happened to stop by the house. There was no obvious sign of forced entry, and sources say the police are investigating the matter.
A friend of Rachel’s tells People, "She's shaken. She feels violated."
Not only did the burglars take big things like a television, but they dipped into her wardrobe as well. And if you know Rachel, you know she takes pride in her fashion.
Her friend went on to say, "They stole all her designer labels – shoes, clothes, bags … She collected a lot of vintage shoes – she's a size 5 – and they took them all. Her jewelry, including some handed down to her by her grandmother. Fashion is her passion. She's devastated."
They’re estimating a loss of tens of thousands of dollars. Bilson's rep confirmed the break-in, but had no official comment. What an awful thing to have happened! And we’re betting Rachel had a decent security system on the house, so those burglars knew exactly how to get in.
Make sure to lock your doors! People are getting desperate in this bleak economy!

A Page Six spy spotted Blison on a Virgin America flight from LA to JFK on Monday (she was on her way to Fashion Week in NYC) sporting a nice rock on her ring finger.
"A man sitting in front of her on the plane saw a ring on her finger and asked if she was married," said the spy, who overheard Bilson reply, "I'm not married yet, just engaged. I know I look like I'm 15, but I'm actually 27."
We contacted Rachel's rep who told us, "I don't comment on my client's personal lives."
Rachel and her beau Hayden Christensen have been dating since 2007, so a walk down the aisle can't be too far behind.

A source says, "Hayden is so in love with Rachel that he's letting her be a part of the designing process, which should be completed after Christmas. They plan on moving in permanently next March, if not sooner."
And according to reports, the move has the couple thinking more seriously about marriage in the near future. The insider adds the pair aren't "eager to push things, but a ceremony has been discussed."
Awww, they’re so adorable!

How could you compare Hayden Christensen and Eminem. Well the director of 'Jumper' does because he almost cast Eminem in the lead role of 'Jumper' instead of Hayden Christensen.
The writer and director of the film, Doug Liman had several meetings with Eminem about possibly giving him the lead part of the movie.
Speaking to MTVNews.com, Liman said: “We did have a meeting and conversations with Eminem.
“If I've proven anything to myself, it's that I can tailor a role to an actor. [I could] develop the role with [someone like Eminem] and make it extremely specific to them. So as long as the person has acting chops, I'm open to talking to almost anybody for almost any role.
“It was one of those things where the studio, with all things being equal, would rather put a bigger name [Eminem] in the movie. At some point, I just put my foot down and said, 'I love Hayden'.”
I have to ask one more time, how could you compare Hayden Christensen to Eminem? I mean I love both Eminem and Hayden (he is sooo hot) but you can't really compare the two. Actually, maybe it's just the fact that they both have such different images that they portray to the public.

Doug Liman, the accomplished director of such films ranging from "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and "The Bourne Identity," all the way to "Go" and my personal favorite, "Swingers" is back with his latest feature "Jumper." A fast-paced, 88 minute, action adventure that allows the audience to go on a journey with the character. An exciting and entertaining good time almost the whole way through, "Jumper" had me enjoying everything it had to offer, until it's abrupt finale. So much more could have been offered if the filmmakers chose to extend the running time just a bit longer and given us a better explanation of the things to come.
One day, at the age of 15, as David Rice (Hayden Christensen) unexpectedly falls through the ice of a nearby lake, he realizes he has the power to teleport. Teleporting from a near death by drowning experience and ending up in an isle of books at a nearby library, David becomes curious on how his power actually works. Realizing the he can teleport anywhere in the world at will, David leaves his little house in his little town and begins to live his new and magnificent life in New York. In dong so, David leaves behind his father and his high school love interest Millie (Rachel Bilson). As years pass, David realizes that he is not the only one that has the power to teleport. Also, David becomes aware that these so called "Jumpers" have been around for thousands of years. Coming in contact with another fellow "Jumper," Griffin (Jamie Bell), David is informed that this wonderful anomaly he was blessed with is not all its cracked up to be. Griffin tells David that there are people who for centuries have sworn to kill off all the "Jumpers" in the world. Now, David and Griffin must work together to save themselves, along with Millie -who is also in danger- from nemesis Roland (Samuel L. Jackson).
With unexpected cameos from Diane Lane and Kristen Stewart, "Jumper" is plenty enjoyable. Hayden Christenses completely regains his acting achievements in this one, after he made me sit through his performance in "Awake." Rachel Bilson, since making the jump from TV to the big screen has really surprised me with every performance she has presented. I have been a fan of Jamie Bell since watching "Chumscrubber" and he's just as good in this one. Michael Rooker -always fun to watch- as David's father William was just as he always is... Good! Again, the abrupt ending ruins what could have been, but altogether, I enjoyed the short, simple, entertaining 88 minutes of "Jumper."
Pat the Movie Critic gives "Jumper" --- 3 Scoops.

I think we can all agree that texting is much more convenient than a phone call. Why have a long conversation when you can get right to the point. Rachel Bilson must be a fan, because that's how she got her latest movie role. Rachel was at her cousin's wedding in Tennessee when director Doug Liman text her asking if she wanted to be in his next movie. That movie happened to be Jumper, also starring Hayden Christensen, whom Rachel has been dating. See, everything happens for a reason!
Rachel appeared on Regis and Kelly this morning, looking adorable in a black and white outfit, and Christian Louboutins. Check out the video.

George Clooney was among several of the Hollywood elite that came together with Bollywood stars in for the Dubai Film Festival. At the event, Dubai projected its hopes of becoming a regional hub for filmmakers and producers.
Other issues talked about were terrorism and climate change, tackled in a region where governments routinely ban films with controversial content. Sharon Stone used her time in Dubai to preside over an AIDS fundraiser for AmFar, raising $1 million.
Actresses Rachel Bilson and Gloria Estefan, plus actors Hayden Chistensen and Danny Glover, also attended the festival. Leonardo Dicaprio was the narrator and co-producer on the "The 11th Hour," which he also presented at the festival.
The environmental documentary follows in the steps of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," a film about global warming.
