Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The MTV movie Awards are shaping up to be quite an event. The eccentric Russell Brand is hosting, Wiz Khalifa is performing and there are five solid nominations for “Movie of the Year.”

One of the films up for the prestigious fan-chosen award is the iconic Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.

The film arrived in theaters in the summer of 2011 to record breaking box office numbers. Deathly Hallows, Part 2 capped the eight-part film series based on the beloved novels of J.K. Rowling.
The annual People's Choice Awards nominations have been announced, and leading the pack is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. The flick garnered nominations in the categories of Movie, Action Movie, Ensemble Movie Cast and Book Adaptation. Daniel Radcliffe is nominated for Movie Actor, and Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton are all nominated for the same category: Movie Star Under 25. People love their Harry Potter.

Daniel Radcliffe is up against Hugh Jackman, Johnny Depp, Robert Pattinson and Ryan Reynolds. I'm not sure what it says about our society that a pirate, a wizard and a vampire are nominated for best actor. But it definitely says something.

Radliffe recently admitted he cried about the Harry Potter franchise coming to an end.

"You've got to have a heart of stone to not find part of it - especially Alan Rickman's performance – heartbreaking. I've done my fair share of crying already."

Bad news to all the Harry Potter fans that expected to see their favorite film in 3-D. The studio has scrapped plans to release Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 in 3-D because they won't have it completed in time to meet the release date.

They have decided to just release it in 2-D.

Warner Bros. released a statement with the announcement. The statement reads:

Warner Bros Pictures has made the decision to release “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” in 2D, in both conventional and IMAX theaters, as we will not have a completed 3D version of the film within our release date window. Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010 as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate “Harry Potter” experience.

Part 1 might be in 2-D only, but they will have part 2 available in both 2-D and 3-D.
