Celebs Offer Food For Homeless

November 22, 2007

Celebs such as Harrison Ford, Calista Flockhart, Spencer Pratt along with others spent yesterday afternoon offering 'Thanksgiving for the Homeless' at the Los Angeles Mission.

Ford and Flockhart served up a Thanksgiving treat for Los Angeles' homeless for the annual free turkey and trimmings meal.

Ford and Flockhart joined Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa at the Los Angeles Mission, where they dished up Thanksgiving meals for the less fortunate.

I think it it really important for celebrities to donate to charities because of their overwhelming amounts of money. It's really nice to see A-list celebrities such as Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart taking time from their busy schedules and helping homeless people. I feel like because they are role models to younger people it sets a really good example for them to also donate their time and help people in need. In the picture it looks like the parents of two brought their children with them to help out which I also think is a great decision, so they can possibly continue to do this in both their futures. During times like thanksgiving people tend to be more upset then during other times of the year, especially when they have nothing. I'm sure it gives hope to the homeless people during thanksgiving and makes them feel good to have celebrities care about them. (Regardless of whether or not the homeless people know who they are and whether or not they are famous) I think this is great for the celebrity population as well because new celebrities are able to see these A-List stars doing charity work and want to follow in their footsteps as well. It also looks great on the celebrities part to be giving back to the community when in reality they could be laying on a beach in Hawaii every other day.
