Oscar-winning actress Halle Maria Berry was born on August 14, 1966, in Cleveland and first tasted stardom when she was crowned Miss Teen All-American 1985 and Miss Ohio USA 1986. She studied broadcast journalism at Cleveland's Cuyahoga Community College for a few semesters before dropping out and moving to New York City in search of an acting career.
In the late-90s, Berry's career came to life with roles in the TV sitcom Living Dolls (1989), and the CBS drama Knot's Landing (1991). She went on to make her big-screen debut as Samuel L. Jackson's strung-out girlfriend in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever, followed by the action thriller The Last Boy Scout (1991) with Bruce Willis and the romantic comedy Boomerang (1992) opposite Eddie Murphy. In 1999, Berry transformed into an up and coming serious actress when she co-produced and starred in the HBO biopic Dorothy Dandridge in which she was critically praised for her accurate depiction of the late Dandridge and earned both an Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Movie.
Berry first broke the racial barriers surrounding Hollywood when she became the first African-American to play the Queen of Sheeba in the movie Solomon & Sheeba (1995). Although a prominent defeat, Berry made history when she became the first African-American to receive an Academy Award for Leading Actress in result of her performance as the wife of a death row prisoner in the dark drama Monster's Ball (2001).
From 2002 to 2007, Berry starred in a string of box office hits, including the James Bond adventure Die Another Day (2002) as Bond Girl Jinx, the reprisal of her role as Storm in X2 (2003) and X-Men: The Final Stand, DC Comics' Catwoman (2004) and the thriller The Perfect Stranger (2007) opposite Bruce Willis, before receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Berry's most recent projects include, the romance comedy New Year's Eve (2011), the adventure thriller Dark Tide (2012) opposite Olivier Martinez, the fantasy adventure Cloud Atlas (2012) with Tom Hanks, the comedy Movie 43 (2013) alongside Emma Stone, the thriller The Hive (2013) and the comedy Shoe Addicts Anonymous (2013).

January 1993 - April 1996
Halle Berry and Atlanta Braves player David Justice first met in 1992, when Berry sent him a head shot with her number attached. The couple married shortly after New Years Eve in Atlanta, but later divorced in '96. Berry still refers to the event as one of the most depressing moments in her life.
1997 - April 2004
Berry and musician Eric Benet first met in 1997, and married on January 24, 2001. Barry later discovered Benet had been cheating on her and filed for divorce on April 26, 2004. It went through on January 6, 2005.
2005 - April 2010
Berry and model Gabriel Aubry laid eyes on each other while on a photo shoot for Versace in November 2005. After a couple months of dating, the two announced they were having a baby and on March 16th, 2008, welcomed their first daughter Nahla Ariela.
In April 2010, however, they experienced a hostile split, followed by a nasty, public custody battle brought on by Berry's request to move with Nahla to France, where future-boyfriend Olivier Martinez lived.
August 2010 - Present
Berry and actor Olivier Martinez first met on the set of Dark Tides and began dating shortly thereafter. They were constantly spotted hand in hand around Europe and confirmed their engagement in March 2012, despite the presence of Berry's ongoing custody battle.
On November 22, 2012, Berry witnesses Gabriel attack Martinez outside their home, resulting in a trip to the hospital for both men. By the looks of him, Gabriel lost the fight and weeks of his modeling career, and was later slapped with a restraining order preventing him from coming close to the family, as well as Martinez. Gabriel followed suit with his own restraining order against Martinez on November 26, 2012.
The custody battle is still ongoing.
