We’re not sure how to respond to the rumors that the marriage between
Gwyneth Paltrow and
Chris Martin is failing.
Speculation only grew last weekend, when Chris was seen leaving the family’s home by himself on the day of their fifth wedding anniversary. Gwyneth has also been making a lot of solo appearances too. But she’s reportedly trying hard to make the marriage work, and figures spending the holidays together will help.
A source tells the New York Daily News, "Gwyneth says she’s totally fine. She’s used the phrase ‘perfectly happy’ a bunch of times, and refuses to read any of the tabloid tales to the contrary." The insider insists that Paltrow is "staying overseas until the holidays are over," and is "trying to make their marriage better".
But the reports also say that
Madonna has a big effect on Gwyneth, and that it’s possible we’ll be seeing her follow in Madge’s footsteps by asking for a divorce.
The source adds, "Gwyneth has the Madonna bug… bad. It’s eerie. Gwyneth acts normally until Madonna comes around, and then Gwyn is all about Madonna, all the time. Madge has even introduced Gwyneth to all her friends. Now instead of going to see Chris perform, she’d rather hang out with people like Alex Rodriguez."
Representatives for Paltrow and Madonna both denied the reports, with Gwyneth’s rep insisting the claims were "complete nonsense." The breakup rumors started last month when Gwyneth showed up to the Fontainebleau Hotel opening solo and spent the weekend in Miami.
It sounds like two little children, with one always wanting what the other one has. For her kids’ sake, we hope she and Chris can work it out!
