Gwyneth Paltrow, who lives in England with her Coldplay singer hubbie Chris Martin, says British people are far more "interesting" and "civilized" than her fellow Americans. Ouch! So does that make us barbarians?

She said: "I don't fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans."

Gwyneth also loves the conversations that the Brits hold at the dinner table. She insists that all Americans think about are money and work. I couldn't agree more, that bothers me as well!

She told Portugal's Diario de Noticias newspaper: "I love the English lifestyle. It's not as capitalistic as America. People talk about interesting things at dinner - not about work and money."

On having Madonna as a neighbor Gwyneth responded: "Madonna is like an older sister. Everything I have gone through she has had 10 times worse and 10 times longer. She has given me good advice about how to say no and take care of myself."

Update: Gwyneth Paltrow slammed the reports claiming that she is Anti-American saying, "First of all I feel so lucky to be American. When you look at the rest of the world, we're so lucky, and that's something my dad always instilled in me," Paltrow told People. "I feel so proud to be American."

"I felt so upset to be completely misconstrued and I never, ever would have said that," says Paltrow. "I definitely did not say that I think the British are more intelligent and civilized than Americans. I am a New York girl, that's how I always think of myself and see myself."

"This is what I said. I said that Europe is a much older culture and there's a difference. I always say in America, people live to work and in Europe, people work to live. There are positives in both," says the actress, adding, "Obviously I need to go back to seventh-grade Spanish!"
